Great news for coral reefs and keeping wild animals wild♥️🐠🐡
Scientists in Florida have finally succeeded in breeding the Pacific Blue Tang, famously known as Dory. This breakthrough is a massive win for the environment because it means these popular fish no longer have to be taken from wild coral reefs for the pet trade.
For years, every "Dory" in a home aquarium had to be caught in the wild because they are notoriously difficult to raise from eggs. Researchers at the University of Florida used a specific scientific method to mimic the ocean environment, allowing the delicate larvae to grow into healthy adults.
This achievement will help satisfy the huge demand for ornamental fish without damaging the delicate balance of tropical ecosystems. By choosing lab-bred fish, aquarium owners can now enjoy these colorful creatures while ensuring their wild cousins remain safe in the ocean.
