Some people come into your life and leave an impact that can never truly be measured. Joe Heinz was one of those people.
To so many, Joe was the CIF Commissioner and a respected leader in our San Diego sports community. To me, he was so much more. He was a mentor, a supporter, and most importantly, a great friend.
I can honestly say I would not be the coach or person I am today without Joeβs friendship, guidance, and support throughout the years.
I have been fortunate enough to celebrate four CIF championships as a coach, and Joe was there for every single one of them. Looking back at those moments now means even more. He wasnβt just there handing over a trophy, he was part of the journey that helped me get there.
But the Joe I will remember most has nothing to do with titles or championships. Iβll remember his kindness, his huge heart, his smile, the laughs, and the friendship we shared.
Our softball community lost an incredible leader, but I lost a friend who meant more to me than I probably ever told him.
Thank you for everything, Joe. For believing in me, for always being there, and for being the kind of friend you never forget.
You will be deeply missed, my brother. β€οΈπͺ½
