We know they're diamonds, we want to help them show everyone.

"Diamonds in the Ruff" is a program started by the Herkimer County Humane Society to raise money to provide our long term dogs with the training they need to help them be more adoptable.

Rocky was putting his brain to work learning his positions! This was just the beginning, but we have no doubt he’ll quickly connect the dots. Down, stand, and sit are all in the works, and Rocky is off to a great start!

To find out more about Rocky, contact the Humane Society of Rome.

Meet Lucky! He’s irresistibly cute and has the brains to match. What a great combination!

This week was Lucky’s first time attending class, and he didn’t disappoint. With a new handler in a new environment, he confidently showed off what he already knew while learning even more!

Like any dog, Lucky benefits from appropriate introductions to set him up for success. Taking the time to introduce dogs respectfully helps build confidence and create positive experiences.

Lucky is available for adoption at the Humane Society of Rome. Contact the shelter to learn more about this smart, handsome boy!

Hello from Jumbo! He’s here to remind you that our Halloween party is TOMORROW at Canine Sports Unlimited.

Jumbo was so excited to help put together raffle baskets to benefit the Diamond in the Ruff program. He’s always happy to lend a paw, especially when it means supporting his shelter friends!

We hope to see you there!

Let’s put a spotlight on Dewey!

This handsome boy has been waiting at the shelter since approximately May, hoping someone will finally choose him. Dewey already knows his basic commands and isn’t shy about showing off what he knows!

He gets along with most dogs and came to class this week happy to engage, learn, and put his brain to work. He’s a smart boy with so much potential, and we can’t help but wonder why he’s been waiting so long for his chance.

Could Dewey be the one you’ve been looking for? Please help us share him and get him one step closer to finding his home!

For adoption information, contact Wanderers' Rest Humane Association.

Meet Freddy and Friday! These two were found together in Utica and are estimated to be 1–2 years old. Freddy is a male, and Friday is a female. They share a special bond but can be selective with other dogs.

While it would be wonderful for them to find a home together, they can also be adopted separately into the right homes.

Both enjoy getting out to training class, experiencing new things, and showing off their personalities.

Interested in learning more about this duo? Want to adopt both..or even one? Contact Wanderers' Rest Humane Association for additional information.
