Jeff Holler Slides into the Petroll Reining Horses Platinum Non Pro Championship on Shines Best Stop

Perhaps one of the industry’s most prestigious titles for Platinum Riders, the SWRHA Petroll Reining Horses Platinum Non Pro Championship was earned by Jeff Holler and his new horse, Shines Best Stop, with a 140.5. Shines Best Stop is by Shine Chic Shine out of Stop Like A Dream. Holler pocketed a check for $676 for the win and for taking third place in the Outta Dough Masters Non Pro.

Holler has been riding reining horses for nearly 38 years, and he feels like Shines Best Stop is a perfect fit for him. He’s only had him about a month and has been riding him all week to get to know him. He lives in western New York and keeps his horses in Marietta, so he only rides when he goes to shows.

“I ride with Dany Tremblay, and we were at the show in Tulsa. Cooper [Smith] thought I needed a better horse and brought this one out for me to ride,” he said.

He appreciates “Jalepeno’s” obedience to his cues and talent in the maneuvers.

Before entering the arena, Tremblay reminded Holler to run down far enough and back up to a certain point, and to always be looking ahead.

Holler thanked Smith, Tremblay and his brother, Fred, and Luca.

Doug and Cooper saw something extraordinary in this c**t from the very first time they saw him- we are proud to have a small part in this horses storied career!

Doug Carpenter first spotted GOLDEN COINS as a baby in a pasture at Silver Spurs Equine. He recognized something special in the c**t’s strength, mind, and presence and recommended him to Cooper Smith, who purchased him on Doug’s advice. GOLDEN COINS was among the last horses Doug selected before his passing in 2020.

Cooper later named the c**t Golden Coins in Doug’s honor. After a successful horse sale, Doug was known to purchase a gold coin... an investment in something of lasting value. The name became a personal tribute to his judgment and friendship.

Years later, that c**t became a record-breaking champion with Kole Price. "Doug recognized the promise long before the world witnessed the performance."
And the story just keeps getting better.
