In & outs is the best session you’re currently not doing to prepare for your next triathlon. 🌊
When athletes run into the water and start dolphin diving out to a buoy without ever having practiced — it’s nearly a surefire guarantee they’re gonna have a sideways head moment. You know the one. Where your brain screams GET ME OUT OF HERE WOMAN. 😂
Yup. That one.
By exposing your brain and body to the simulated stress of a swim start ahead of race day, you get to practice finding your groove — so on race morning you can remind yourself: you’ve done this. we’ve done this. we’re good to go. 🙌
You can go as low key or as ramped up as you like depending on your goals — but this is hands down the best real scenario practice for a super fun race morning instead of a super anxious one.
Try this before your next tri 👇
WARM UP
10–20 min easy swim
MAIN SET — 4 to 6 rounds
👉 full recovery between each
→ Line up 10–20 yards from shore with a few friends
→ Start at race pace — walking with intention for beginners, brisk run for more advanced athletes
→ At mid-thigh: dolphin dive OR glide into your swim (glide is key for nervous open water swimmers)
→ Take 8–10 strokes strong
→ Catch your breath if needed
→ Head back to shore — swim until your fingers hit sand
→ Stand up, high knees out of the water, run back to your starting point
→ Full recovery before the next round
📌 Save this and give it a shot before your next tri. Your race morning self will thank you. 🌺
Follow along for more tips like this every week. Racing fast AND having fun is the whole vibe here. ✨
