Combo 59/100: Nice Rally & Counter to Partner Put-Away

• Opponent Speed-Up: The opponent speeds the ball up directly at me.
• Slide Counter: I slide to the right and hit a solid counter-shot.
• Reset: The opponent d***s it back.
• Second Speed-Up: The opponent tries to speed it up on me a second time.
• Targeted Counter: I counter again, this time hitting a better location right at his right hip.
• The Finish: The opponent pops the ball up to my partner, who is perfectly positioned to smash a forehand put-away.

Had a great time drilling 7-11 today! 🏓 Working straight ahead, focusing on length of rally and making each other work for every single point.
Even when the ball went a bit wide, the goal was keeping it low, working on those resets, dialing in the speed-ups, and mixing in some variety with the occasional lob.
It really showed me how vital it is to keep the legs involved—the second my legs disengaged, that’s exactly how I missed that last shot! Focus for next time: heavy legs, low ball, long rallies.

Combo 58 of 100: The Ernie Gamble 🎲🔥
What a battle! This rally had a bit of everything: fast speed-ups, soft resets, and lightning-fast counterattacks.
But let’s talk about the turning point. My opponent saw an opening and went for an Ernie. In hindsight, I probably should have sped the ball straight down the middle to catch them out of position.
Later in the rally, the tables turned. I saw my chance and jumped for the Ernie, but he anticipated it perfectly and sped it right down the middle It just goes to show how tough it is to read the kitchen line sometimes. It’s a constant guessing game: Is your opponent truly off-balance enough for you to pull off the Ernie, or are they baiting you just to send it down your line?

Post 57 of 100: Mastering the Specialty Shots 🎾✨
When people first start playing pickleball, they focus entirely on the basics: drives, drops, and d***s. But as you move up in skill level, you quickly realize that specialty shots are not just for highlight reels. They are a regular, necessary part of every single game.
To win consistently, you have to execute these specific tools with total confidence when the chaos starts:

* The Deceptive Lobs: Throwing up a high, deep ball to completely change the court geometry and force opponents to retreat.
* The Precision Drop Shots: Softening a chaotic, fast ball right into the kitchen to reset the rally on your terms.
* The Aggressive Overheads: Tracking a high ball perfectly and hammering it down to punish a weak defensive lift.

You cannot afford to look at these as "sometimes" shots. They are essential arrows in your quiver. If your specialty shots are weak, your opponents will exploit those gaps the moment you get pulled out of your comfort zone.
The players who dominate are the ones who can transition seamlessly from a soft touch drop right into a heavy overhead without skipping a beat.
Which specialty shot do you rely on most when a rally gets chaotic? Let’s hear it in the comments! 👇

Combo 56 of 100: watch out for the tweener The Left-Side Battle & Disguising the Two-Handed Backhand 🎾👀
Playing the left side comes with a massive responsibility.
In this rally, the battle was real. They even threw me off completely with a wild between-the-legs shot! When I tried to respond with a speed-up, it lacked one crucial element: disguise. My opponent was practically winding up to swing before the ball even left my paddle.
That brought home a major lesson for the left-side two-handed backhand.
To unlock the next level of ex*****on, your mechanics must look identical right up until contact. You need the exact same setup to do two completely different things:

* The Setup: Keep your body posture, paddle angle, and backswing completely identical.
* Option A: Softly roll a heavy, diagonal cross-court d**k to keep them pinned.
* Option B: Use a sudden explosion of the wrists to flash a speed-up straight down the line.

If they can read your speed-up early, you are just feeding their counter-attack. But if you can mask that down-the-line shot inside your normal d**k motion? They won't move until the ball is already past them.

Post 55 of 100: The Art of the High Backhand Putaway 🎾💥
Pickleball is a game of patience, but it is also a game of sudden opportunities. One minute you are locked in a tactical battle, and the next, you have the chance to end the point.
Every great rally is a mix of different pressures:

• The D***s: Building the point and moving opponents.
• The Resets: Staying alive and neutralizing aggressive balls.
• The Attacks: Speeding up the pace when they least expect it.

But my absolute favorite way to finish a rally? The high backhand overhead putaway.
When opponents try to lob or clear a ball over your backhand shoulder, they think they are safe. They aren't.
The secret to mastering this shot isn't complex footwork or a massive body rotation. The key is keeping your whole body incredibly simple:

1. Keep your core stable.
2. Reach the arm straight up.
3. Finish with a quick, decisive flick of the wrist.

That sudden snap catches everyone off guard and sends the ball downward at an angle they can't recover. Simple mechanics. Maximum power. Point over.

Combo 52 of 100: **"Make Them Play, Make Them Move"**

Great battle in this one. The game plan was simple: make them play pickleball, force the speed ups, and keep them moving around the court. My partner threw up a short lob near the end that kept us in the point, but when the other team started finding their rhythm, that's exactly when you lean on the soft game to slow things back down.

Pickleball's a game of adjustments, staying patient and controlling the pace wins more points than power ever will.

What's your go-to shot when the other team starts heating up? Drop it below.
