’Twas the night before dance class, and all through their rooms,
XDC dancers were dreaming of recitals and costumes.
Thoughts of the studio brought smiles to each face,
And all of them wished that the night would just race.
Though summer was over, they all felt no sorrow,
As they ran around shouting, “DANCE SEASON STARTS TOMORROW!”
The studio was ready, the mirrors were clean,
The music was ready, the floors had a sheen.
The spots were prepared, everything in its place,
Just waiting for dancers to fill up the space!
The next day at school, they may mope and they’ll fuss,
With backpacks and lunch bags, they’ll race to the bus.
But when the school day is over, they’ll ready their hair,
Because XDC friends and teachers will soon all be there!
Each studio will fill with the dazed and perplexed,
As everyone wonders what move will come next.
But as each class gets moving, they’ll quickly catch on,
And before they all know it, those nerves will be gone!
Through struggles and stumbles, trips, falls, and flops,
They’ll dance ballet, jazz, tap, pom, and hip hop.
Summer vacation will fade from their minds,
As another amazing dance season unwinds.
Within a few months, they’ll all know their routines,
And feel like dancing just runs in their genes.
Teachers may worry there’s not enough time,
But our dancers will know that they’ll do just fine!
Then costumes will come with their glittery flair,
With sequins and sparkles flying everywhere!
And the months will fly by—nine feel like a year,
Until springtime arrives with excitement and cheer.
Soon parents will wonder, “How are we here already?!”
As recital approaches and dancers get ready.
There may be some nerves as the big weekend nears,
But those nerves will soon turn into smiles and cheers.
So tonight, there’s no reason for sadness or sorrow,
The dancers of today are the stars of tomorrow!
As Season 22 begins and our favorite time draws near,
“Good luck to all, and to all a GREAT DANCE YEAR!”
