The Air Force World Class Athlete Program was established in 1995 to continue the legacy of Tuskegee Airman Malvin G. Whitfield. Ronald R. boxing team.

The Air Force World Class Athlete Program (WCAP) recruits elite athletes and affords them the opprotunity to train full-time for three years to make the Olympic team in their respective sport. Whitfield, a Korean War tail gunner, became the first active-duty American serviceman to win Olympic gold in 1952 in Helsinki. Lt Hendrickson retained his US Open title in Las Vegas, NV on 25 Apr by defeating his opponent from last year, Demetrius Thomas, with a pin that took only :27 seconds. With the win, Lt Hendrickson qualifies for the Title X competition on June 19 that will determine who will represent the USA National Team at the World Championships in Oct. Lt Hendrickson was also named the Outstanding Wrestler of the Senior Men's freestyle division at the US Open.

Congrats to WCAP athlete 1Lt Wyatt Hendrickson for retaining his Real American Freestyle (RAF) Heavyweight title at RAF 07 in Tampa, FL. He beat Trent Hilger 6-2 to defend his heavyweight title.
