Dear Columbus Scuba Family,
Over the past several months, many of you have known that I have been vetting candidates to lead Columbus Scuba as our General Manager. This was not a decision I intended to make quickly, nor was it one based simply on seniority or choosing the next person in line.
The criteria for this position were very specific. I wanted someone whose success would be measured not by personal accomplishments, but by the growth and development of our entire team. Someone who believes that great organizations are
built by investing in people, creating opportunities, mentoring future leaders, and strengthening the culture that separates Columbus Scuba from its competitors. Our dive center has never been about one individual, it has always been about the incredibly diverse, talented and personable community that make this dive center what it is today.
After an extensive search and careful consideration, I am excited to announce that Josh Cohen has accepted the position of General Manager of Columbus Scuba. Josh and his wife, Jaime, will be relocating to Columbus from Wilmington, North Carolina and moving to Westerville.
Josh currently serves as the East Coast Regional Representative for PADI Americas. He is also a Platinum Course Director and PADI Instructor Examiner, bringing decades of experience in diver education, leadership, and business operations. Prior to joining PADI, Josh served as the Lead Course Director and Board of Education Liaison at Rainbow Reef Dive Center in Key Largo, Florida which is one of the most active dive centers in the world. He later became General Manager of Islamorada Dive Center in the Florida Keys where he grew programming an sales exponentially before being recruited by PADI. Josh’s formal education includes a degree in Marketing as well as a Master’s degree in business administration.
While Josh's résumé is certainly impressive, it was his character, leadership philosophy, and commitment to developing others that ultimately convinced me he was the right fit. Throughout our conversations, it became clear that he shares the same values that have guided Columbus Scuba since we opened our doors in 1999, putting people first, delivering exceptional education and customer service, and building a team where everyone has the opportunity to grow and succeed.
Over the last six months, Columbus Scuba has experienced some incredible momentum and growth. We've welcomed so many new faces, expanded programs, strengthened our community, and we’ve positioned ourselves for an exciting future. I truly believe Josh is the right leader to build upon that momentum while preserving the culture that has made Columbus Scuba what it is today.
Please join me in welcoming Josh and Jaime to the Columbus Scuba family. I know you'll make them feel at home, and I look forward to watching Josh help lead our team and our community to even greater heights. Thank you, as always, for your continued commitment, friendship, and support.
Best Regards and Safe Diving,
Andy Silverman
