Three Rivers Yoga TRY provides authentic yoga classes, where the student learns proper technique & movement with breath.

Robert Barton has been practicing & teaching yoga for 30+ years. His intensive personal practice and study with some of the finest teachers including Dean Lerner (Senior Iyengar Teacher), Tim Miller (Ashtanga), Kali Ray (Tri-yoga Flow), Yogi Hari (Classical), Andrei Sidersky (Esoteric), Angela Farmer and Victor Van Kooten (Innovative Exploration), turned an obstacle into an opportunity. Robert was certified to teach in 1992 through the Yoga Vedanta, Science and Arts Center under Yogi Hari & Leela Mataji. Robert established Three Rivers Yoga Institute in 1993 and was the FIRST yoga studio in the Pittsburgh area. Robert brings 30 years of daily practice, a pain free back, and a deep understanding of the therapeutic application of the practice to his classes. His approach is humorous and compassionate helping students to move beyond self perceived limitations.

….we all can make a difference

The sun, inherently full of light and heat, does not choose who receives its warmth; it radiates universally. Its giving is not a task but an effect of its nature. When we are full of joy and love, our gratitude shines outward, warming our interactions with everyone we meet. ☀️

Often, we do not realise the capabilities of our brain & body.
Truly a remarkable story. YOGA THERAPY encourages the body's natural healing. When we are quiet enough, the body will figure out what it needs.

******
At 8 years old, Christina Santhouse was experiencing up to 150 seizures a day.

Her brain was being severely damaged by a rare condition called Rasmussen’s encephalitis.

Medication wasn’t stopping it.

Doctors faced her parents with an unimaginable choice: a 14-hour operation to remove the entire right hemisphere of her brain.

The warnings were frightening.

She might never walk normally.
She might struggle to speak.
She might never live the life her parents imagined for her.

But Christina survived.

And then something extraordinary happened. 🧠❤️

Her remaining hemisphere began adapting, taking over functions once handled by the missing side.

She did lose some movement on the left side of her body.

But her personality remained.
Her memories remained.
Her intelligence remained.

And she didn’t merely survive.

She thrived.

Christina went on to graduate from high school, earn a master’s degree and become a speech-language pathologist, dedicating her life to helping others.

Think about that for a moment.

The doctors were trying to save her life.

Christina went on to build a life worth living.

Her story is a powerful reminder that our circumstances can change without having the final say over our future.

Sometimes, what looks like the end of the road is simply the beginning of a different journey.

The human brain can adapt.

And perhaps, in our own lives, we can too. 🌱

Never underestimate what is still possible.
