until tomorrow, Tuesday. I am cancelling today's class at 5:30 pm.

Please friend my only face book account left, Christine Brady or [email protected].

We should be back in action on Thursday. Thank you for understanding!

Don't make this mistake!

You want to dance more than anything else, but perhaps you are letting yourself be conditioned by self-doubt.The worst thing you can do is to negatively appear yourself with someone you consider better technically. The only person you should compare yourself to is the person you were yesterday.

Dear Friends,

We invite you to make an end of the year donation to The Americas Foundation.
Throughout the year, the Foundation supports scholarships for talented children to study basic education along with arts and sports at the La Esperanza schools in Tijuana, Baja California.

This year we also inaugurated the free program for teenagers to study the arts with qualified teachers, "More Art = Less Violence". The area we work in while close the US/Mexico border has been suffering through continued violence and assassinations of young people. Our students who have graduated over the years have been able to avoid the personal tragedies and lead productive lives, which we attribute to their well rounded education giving them more internal strength and hope.

Our construction projects are continuing, with work on the amphitheater, future library and improving the kindergarten. Monthly volunteer construction days are a mainstay of our maintenance program, which of course always include creating tile mosaics to improve the educational ambiance and share in the creative community experience.

One successful program that always bring joy to a great many is our Christmas giving program. We celebrate the season with a series of concerts and events known as Posadas, the biggest of which is the Posada de la Colonia La Esperanza. We have improved our design of outdoor pizza ovens and have built three to quickly cook pizza for 500 attendees of the Colonia Posada who also recieve a gift, candy and enjoy festive music with a DJ.

Our work and programs are only made possible by donations by individuals, small Foundations and social service clubs. We are a scratch and peck, no overhead operation where 100% of monies donated go to the education and social service programs.

Please visit our Webpage to make a secure donation by internet, https://www.theamericasfoundation.org/support-us

Or send a check to
The Americas Foundation
PO Box 574
Chula Vista, CA 91912

Your gift is tax deductible and you will receive a letter for tax purposes during January, 2023.

Please let us know of any news you would like to share. Our next volunteer work day will be Saturday, January 28th. We meet at the H Street trolley parking area in Chula Vista at 8:00 am to carpool to the Colegio La Esperanza for the day.

We invite you to join our "Friends of Americas Foundation" Facebook group for up to date news.

Twice a year the Americas Foundation sponsors an international festival known as a Gran Kermesse. In the Spring we feature dance, music and arts of a geographic area. This Spring the Gran Kermesse will focus on the cultures of countries surrounding the Mediterranean and present an original full length Children's ballet.

Thank you once again for making our work possible. Hope you have a very happy, healthy and productive New Year 2023.

Christine Brady, President

Dear Friends,

The best Christmas gift of all is a scholarship for a child to attend the La Esperanza schools in Tijuana. The Americas Foundation has created and supports the Jardín de Niños and Colegio La Esperanza kindergarten and elementary schools that provide basic education coupled with a full arts program. Along with the basics of reading, writing, history, and science, students have 12 hours a week of special classes that include dance, instrumental and choral music, Engish, plastic arts, sports, computer science and nutritional ecology.

These schools are an oasis in an underdeveloped region nine miles from the US/Mexico border (San Diego/Tijuana) that offer the children the opportunity to become conscientious, productive adults and avoid the tragic destinies of many who have grown up in the area. I am constantly amazed by the incredible talents of the children that we discover as they progress with their studies.

We need your support to provide half and full scholarships to children from severely deprived situations. For $45/month ($540 per year) you can provide a half scholarship or $90/month ($1080) a full scholarship. Please visit our website
at https://www.theamericasfoundation.org/support-us
to sign up and learn more.

You can also write and send checks to
The Americas Foundation
PO Box 574
Chula Vista, CA 91911

To go directly Paypal donations, you can use the QR code shown in the comments.

We greatly appreciate your support which is critical to our continuing our work
with the La Esperanza and helping children and families at the border.

Thank you once again, Christine Brady, President

Dear Friends,
I am reaching out to you to ask for your help to find donors of Christmas presents for our annual "Posada de la Colonia La Esperanza" community Christmas party where we give out presents to people of all ages and s*xes. This is a badly needed event by the community of Colonia La Esperanza in Tijuana, because of the dire economic situation they live in.
Can you help us find donors or a group of donors of Christmas presents. Church group, Rotary, Kiwanis Club, Soroptimist, alumni associations, political action, knitting groups are all good possibilities.
We need for gifts to be wrapped and labeled as to s*x and age appropriateness, and delivered to Jessie Meacham (858 245 5080) or my home at 898 Second Ave., Chula Vista, CA 91911
We have drawn up a suggestion list that you can use to buy from Amazon and below is a list to help think of age appropriate gifts. Your support will make the holidays much brighter for those in need.

Dear Ballet Friends,

Every year the Americas Foundation sponsors a number of Christmas events, The biggest of which is the "Posada de la Colonia La Esperanza". We make homemade pizza in the outdoor oven, have a DJ playing holiday music, give out candy bags and gifts to the 500 people who attend.

Every person, child or grandparent, man or woman receives a gift, which is usually the only gift they receive during the year. We are asking for donations of gifts that are wrapped and marked specifying the age and s*x that the gift is appropriate for. For example, a Barbie doll would be labeled "girl, 6 to 8 years old".

We are also looking for donations to pay for pizza making ingredients, equipment and serving items as well as 100 pounds of candy. Our DJ is a volunteer!
Pizza supplies, sodas, plates, etc. cost around $500 total. Candy and bags is around $450 dollars. We also need some donations for gift wrap, and decorations.

We also need volunteers to help hand out gifts on Sunday, December 18th.

This is a wonderful event that brings happiness and holiday cheer to everyone involved. If you can donate or convince a group to donate wrapped gifts it would be a great help. You can contact Jessie Meacham at [email protected] or tel: 858 245 5080 for more information or mail to or drop off wrapped gifts directly at my home 898 Second Ave., Chula Vista, CA 91911.

To make a donation, please mail a check to the Americas Foundation, PO Box 574, Chula Vista, CA 91912 or visit
https://www.theamericasfoundation.org/

We need gifts by the end of November so I have time to cross them over the border.

After the quarantine and with inflation, the poorest people are struggling more than ever. Your donation can raise
spirits and spread a lot of happiness.

Thank you once again for your interest in helping the kids and families at the US/Mexico border,

Christine

PS Hope you have a wonderful Holiday season as well!

Dear Friends, For many years the Americas Foundation had a wonderful volunteer accountant, Andrew McCuen, help us prepare our annual tax forms (990 and 199). Andy has retired. We are looking for a new accountant. I have been preparing the information for the 990ez for this year, but the IRS now requires that it be submitted electronically. Can you recommend an accountant or someone to help us?

California Proposition 28, Art and Music K-12 Education Funding Initiative (2022) 10/12/2022

California Proposition 28, Art and Music K-12 Education Funding Initiative (2022)

California Friends, Please vote "YES" on Proposition 28 which will require public and charter schools to use some of their funding on Arts and Music education. This is super important to the development of the child. For years funding for arts and music has been slashed or diverted and there have not been trained arts teachers employed in 80% of the California schools. If we want a civilized society that does not disintegrate into violence, we need to prioritize providing children with a complete education. Vote "Yes" on Proposition 28!
