✨ WELCOME EMILY TO RVDP! ✨

We are so excited to welcome Emily Frutos to the River Valley Dance Project team as our new Arts Administrator Assistant.

Emily began dancing at just three years old and has spent her life growing as a dancer, teacher, and artist. She began her formal ballet training at Mankato Ballet Company before attending summer programs with Orlando Ballet, Ballet Austin, Kansas City Ballet, and Ballet Royale Minnesota.

Emily moved to Connecticut to study at The Hartt School, where she earned her degree in Dance Performance & Ballet Pedagogy and minored in Performing Arts Management. She is currently a dancer with Ballet Hartford.

When asked what she loves most about dance, Emily shared:

“I love how alive dance makes me feel. I use dance as a way of expressing myself, moving my body, connecting with myself and others, meditating, and ultimately I love to share that joy with my dance peers as well as my students.”

We especially love Emily’s perspective on the importance of dance education in 2026. She believes dance has something to teach people of all ages, backgrounds, and needs and as our world rapidly changes, it is more important than ever to stay connected to the arts and what they offer us as human beings.

Emily is excited to bring everything she has studied into the real world and to help support the growth and community of RVDP.

Please join us in welcoming Emily to the RVDP community.

In one word, how does dance make you feel?
Let us know in the comments!
For Hilarie, the answer is “Courageous.” 🌟

After returning to dance as an adult, Hilarie has spent the past two years at River Valley Dance Project discovering new challenges, embracing imperfection, and finding community alongside dancers of different ages and backgrounds.

“I don’t have to be the best in the class. I can still learn, and it’s okay.”

As we begin a new semester, we’re celebrating the many reasons people come to dance, and the many ways movement can become a part of our lives!

Read Hilarie’s story and learn more about what “Movement for Life” means to her.
