The DVCA provides an opportunity for skill-building, playing, and friend-making in volleyball.
Each summer, the Detroit Volleyball Coaches Association gives girls ages 11 - 18 an opportunity to develop their volleyball skills through coach-led drills and competitive play on numerous courts, and make new friends among the more than 300 girls that attend and participate. Coaches are from local college, high school and AAU teams as well as current and former college players. Proper technique, game strategy and a love of the game are our foundation.

We gave out surprise awards on the final day of our summer program. We told the girls that someone is always watching them - how they show up, move, listen and learn. The awards were proof. MOST COACHABLE is our favorite award to give out. Congrats Crystal and Damas, I mean Dallas (inside joke). Keep shining!

If you're coming to Adams Butzel Recreation Center for the final day of our summer program, please plan to park on the lot off Meyers.
There is also voting and a National Night out event happening here all at the same time so parking in the main lot is verrrrrrrry limited.
Govern yourselves accordingly. Thank you!

Parents, players and more are always surprised at the cost of our programs. Our prices are LOW so that they remain accessible to as many girls as possible. The price of youth sports continues to rise leaving out and behind a large part of our community.
Recently players were able to receive coaching from CMU Volleyball - both on and off the court - for $20 because of our partnership with Detroit Public Schools Community District Public School League.
Youth don't choose their parents, households, zip codes or circumstances. As members of the community, we have chosen to invest in young people as coaches, educators and mentors. We know many girls can relate to Elyse's perspective. We are so glad she chose to share it so we stay grounded in 'why we coach.'

If your child is participating in our summer program, all players will report to Adams Butzel on Thursday, July 2. (The Chandler Park Dome site will resume next week.)
Additionally, we will start in the gym and move to the hockey rink (due to Occupy Summer programming).
Don't forget your water bottles! Another warm day is expected Thursday.

The Detroit Volleyball Coaches Association will never ask you to CashApp Us via text! Because we don't have CashApp for the DVCA. Parents, please talk to your athletes about potential scams and how non-profits and legitimate businesses do business!!!! Also, teach them how to follow-up and to check with an adult if they are suspicious. Never send money to someone you don't know just because they ask.

Coach Penny Lucas-White of Alabama State University taught a workshop on the Mindful Athlete being mentally tough at our Showcase Friday. The players bought in immediately! See, they can follow directions. 😆😍
