MICHIGAN AVENGERS MAKE A STATEMENT IN SEASON OPENER, STORM SOUTH BEND FOR 160–110 WIN
SOUTH BEND, INDIANA — The Michigan Avengers opened the 2026–2027 season with a bang.
Despite traveling to South Bend, Indiana, without several of their veteran leaders — Mikquell Jackson, Ryan Aaron, Justin McKinney and Davon Haynes — the Avengers showed exactly how deep and dangerous this roster can be.
Michigan exploded offensively, putting up an incredible 160 points on the way to a 160–110 victory.
And the message was clear:
The Avengers have arrived.
NEW FACES, BIG-TIME IMPACT
With key veterans unavailable, the door was wide open for some of the Avengers’ newest additions to make their presence felt — and they didn't disappoint.
Kyle Shockley came out firing and put the entire league on notice, finishing with a game-high 40 points.
Josh Miller followed with an impressive 28 points, while newcomer Alhassan Diallo added 15 points.
Then there was the big man in the middle.
Antijaun Harris made his presence felt on both ends of the floor, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds for a powerful double-double in his Avengers debut.
The newcomers didn't simply fill in.
They showed out.
THE VETERANS ANSWERED THE CALL
While the newcomers brought the fire, the Avengers' veteran leadership remained on full display.
Nigil Ward reminded everyone why he's one of the team's trusted veterans, knocking down an incredible seven 3-pointers on his way to 21 points.
Jamal Edwards added 20 points, providing another major scoring punch for the Avengers.
And Reshardd Harris did what veteran leaders do — he impacted the game everywhere.
Harris finished with 5 points, 9 rebounds and 6 assists, controlling the game with his leadership, rebounding and playmaking.
It wasn't about one player.
It was about the entire Avengers unit.
160 POINTS. 50-PLUS POINT MARGIN.
From the opening minutes, Michigan attacked.
The ball moved. Shots fell. The defense created opportunities, and the Avengers kept their foot on the gas.
By the final buzzer, Michigan had put 160 points on the scoreboard and walked away with a 50-point victory.
The Avengers didn't just win their season opener.
They made a statement.
THE ROAD TO NEW YORK
Now the Avengers turn the page.
Next stop:
NEW YORK.
After opening the season with a dominant performance on the road, Michigan will carry its momentum into its next challenge.
The veterans will eventually return.
The new Avengers have already introduced themselves.
And the rest of the MBL just got a glimpse of what this team can become.
