Max Scherzer sits at 3,550 career strikeouts, just four behind Justin Verlander at 3,554.

But Verlander gets the next move. He’s scheduled to make his final start of his career Saturday, giving him a chance to widen the gap before Scherzer potentially takes the mound again.

👀 When are the Lions going to unleash more Isaac TeSlaa?

The young receiver has just six targets and two catches through two games, but Detroit’s coaching staff says the limited production has more to do with how LOADED this offense is than TeSlaa’s performance.

TeSlaa currently sits behind Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jameson Williams, Sam LaPorta and Jahmyr Gibbs in the progression.

That's a lot of mouths to feed. 😅

But coaches also praised TeSlaa’s physical blocking and the “dirty work” he's doing when the ball isn't coming his way.

Those little things earn trust — and eventually, they could lead to much bigger opportunities.

🦁 The Lions’ offensive line is still banged up, but things appear to be moving in the RIGHT direction.

Christian Mahogany, Blake Miller and Tate Ratledge were all limited again Thursday.

The encouraging part? Mahogany and Miller were reportedly close to playing last week, while Ratledge avoiding a downgrade is another positive sign.

Barring a setback, Detroit could have its projected starting five together Sunday:

🔹 Penei Sewell
🔹 Christian Mahogany
🔹 Juice Scruggs
🔹 Tate Ratledge
🔹 Blake Miller

Ben Bartch remains sidelined with a foot injury, but Detroit also got some good news on defense with Alim McNeill and Ahmed Hassanein returning to full participation.

After the injuries Detroit has dealt with up front, getting this group healthy would be HUGE.

👀 We may finally have some more context behind Jalen Duren turning down Detroit’s reported five-year, $200 million offer.

According to PistonPowered, citing reporting from The Athletic, the Pistons’ proposal reportedly included weight stipulations that surprised Duren and his representatives.

Detroit reportedly became concerned about Duren’s weight following its Game 7 playoff loss to Cleveland and privately wanted the young center to slim down.

This certainly adds another layer to what has already become one of Detroit’s biggest offseason storylines.

$200 million is obviously a massive number — but the details inside the contract matter too.

Justin Verlander is getting the sendoff he deserves in Detroit. 🐯🧡

The Tigers are planning a two-day celebration at Comerica Park as Verlander prepares for the final start of his incredible 21-year career.

Friday will focus on his career, with former teammates expected back in Detroit, a tribute video, guest speakers, an artifact display and a Verlander bobblehead giveaway for the first 15,000 fans.

Then Saturday becomes all about JV one final time. Verlander will make his last career start, while the Tigers also celebrate his impact away from baseball. He’s donating $100,000 to Michigan Humane for Military, helping connect veterans and active-duty service members with companion animals and veterinary support.

Verlander admitted the weekend is going to be emotional and said he plans to ditch his normal pregame routine so he can soak everything in with the fans and his family.

One last weekend. One last start. One last chance for Detroit to celebrate one of the greatest pitchers of his generation. 🐯

🚨 ALEX DeBRINCAT ENDS IT IN OVERTIME! 🐙

DeBrincat buried a power-play one-timer just 33 SECONDS into overtime to give the Red Wings a 3-2 preseason win over Buffalo.

And Cat was firing away all night.

He finished with EIGHT shots on goal before finally burying the winner. 🎯

There were some encouraging performances from Detroit’s youngsters too:

🔥 Axel Sandin-Pellikka scored his second goal in as many games
🔥 Anton Johansson picked up his fifth assist of the preseason
🔥 Sheldon Dries scored the game-tying goal

Detroit will now wrap up the preseason Saturday against Columbus.

It might only be preseason, but seeing DeBrincat attacking the net like this is exactly what you want heading into the real thing.
