Attitude and perception to one's business is as important as rate and position on good cow horse.

You never know when your next possible client is watching or listening.

Clients are looking for someone they can believe in. Someone that shows interest in their goals.

I recently have been shopping for some studs for one of my broodmares.

After choosing my top contenders, I asked owners/trainers about their studs.

One responded with an attitude of being bothered, I felt ignored to be honest. It left me with a bad taste in my mouth about a stud I truly admire.

The other one showed intrique and asked me about my mare, what's the breeding? Does she have earnings? How old is she? What's her disposition?

Can you guess which stud I chose?

Who do you think is going to be easy to deal with during the transactions?

Maybe both parties will treat you the same during the transactions. However, upon first impressions my perception is that the second one seems to want my business and what is best for his stud.

𝐀𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐭𝐮𝐝𝐞 is what sold me on the second guy.

This is a tough business, do what you can to attract the right customers. Have a good attitude and perception that you want to do the job!

Often when I am riding, I'm trying to find a spot to quit.

The thing is, most people pass that opportunity ten times. They just didn't see it because they were looking for perfection and not 𝑖𝑚𝑝𝑟𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡.

𝗥𝗲𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘁𝗿𝘆! Sometimes the time to quit is just a simple try.

Maybe that horse gave just an inch, give him the reward for the try. Next time he will know what you're looking for.

This applies in the show pen as well. It doesn't mean reward because it was the perfect pattern, but because it was a better maneuver in a pattern.

Here is a little personal experience from me.

We've been showing a lot lately and a horse that is showing hard can get a little strong in the show pen. I may have to sacrifice a run or two by slowing down the pattern and rewarding correctness.

I stay on the pattern and show, but do it at a slow controlled speed.

You can't worry about the score, just worry about your horse trying to do as you ask. I always look for "the try" to please you and be present for you.

I think everyone could benefit learning when to quit worrying about the score and when to reward the horse for being present.

𝔸 𝕕𝕒𝕪 𝕀'𝕝𝕝 𝕟𝕖𝕧𝕖𝕣 𝕗𝕠𝕣𝕘𝕖𝕥.

Like many of you, I remember exactly where I was 25 years ago. I remember feeling scared, uncertain, and frozen in time.

However, time didn't freeze and now we are here.

We will never forget those lives lost and the selflessness of so many on that day.

Yesterday was the horse show debut for 𝑷𝒆𝒑𝒑𝒚'𝒔 𝑻𝒖𝒇𝒇 𝑷𝒓𝒐𝒇𝒊𝒍𝒆!

"Boo Boo" showed in the green horse class and put down some clean runs for us. We're excited to continue to develop her into a show horse.

Thank you to her owners for trusting us to bring her along. Getting a horse to the show pen is not a quick process and it takes great clients that believe in their horses to make it happen.
