Shoutout to our AIMCompany dancers who came to rehearse on a Saturday and indulge Miss Bailey’s wildest fantasies of a Hitch Hikers Guide to the Galaxy Ballet. There’s not many young dancers that you can say, “put on this tutu and dolphin hat and emboîté.”, to without getting the “you must be crazy look” that teens and preteens are infamous for. But these young artists are brave and they just go for it!
Thank you dancers 🙏
“So Long and Thanks for All the Fish” the ballet, coming to a community event near you.

We are thrilled to announce our annual recital: “Boomtown to Broadway”!
This year our recital will be held at the West Port High School Performing Arts Center on Saturday, June 8th.
The theme for our recital is Broadway Classics. We have named our recital “Boomtown to Broadway” to give reverence to our humble “Boomtown” roots. For those of you who may not know, Dunnellon’s town slogan is “Boomtown of the 1890s” in reference to how the town popped up quickly due to the phosphate industry. Personally, I love giving our students a chance to embrace our small-town community while exploring the splendor and spectacle that is the song and dance of Broadway.

Stay tuned for a recital announcement this Friday. We can’t wait to share!!!

Art in Motion’s AIMCompany Dancers did brilliant work in FAFO (Fine Arts for Ocala).
⭐️ Our Dancers we’re brave and kind and we are so proud of their hard work.
⭐️ We can’t wait for the rest of the season because these young artists are cooking up some exciting things.
Special thanks to for setting her new work “Bending the Mirror” on these dancers. We have watched them grow through the choreographic process with you and it was a privilege to share with our community.

May we never let 5th be an afterthought. 🙏

Close your tendu & dégagé into fifth with as much speed, energy, & conviction as you use to open them! (Unless, of course, you are given a varying timing to close.) Closing properly builds the movement and muscles to properly execute steps like assemble.

Words can't express how pleased we are that there is enough interest in Ballet Level I that we can open up a second class! Looks like our students love Ballet as much as we do.
What this means is that the Level I Ballet class on Wednesdays from 4:45-5:45 pm will officially be known as “Ballet Level 1A”. Our new class “Ballet Level 1B” will be held on Fridays from 5:30-6:30pm. This new class time may be an awesome opportunity for those that are in work or school until after 5pm. We see you and we hear you!

Welcome back from fall break!
This photo was taken 3 weeks ago the night Miss Bailey went in labor with baby Akiva… and now we are back!

Classes resume Monday, October 16th!
Miss Bailey misses her students too and can’t wait to get back into the Conservatory with them after welcoming her new baby boy, Akiva into the world. Thank you all for so much support. See you soon! 💙

Miss Bailey is blessed to have so many awesome students that are eager to meet her new little boy, she thought she would start a little game to include Art in Motion families in some of her own family’s excitement!🐣

We will be closed in observance of Labor Day! Enjoy your long weekend 💙💖💙💖

We will be closed Tuesday 8/29 and Wednesday 8/30 with the hopes to reopen on Thursday 8/31 if weather and power permits. Stay Safe 💖

The other day Miss Bailey got to chatting with some of our students and they were talking about how they feel about our Conservatory space. Art in Motion students describe their dance space as “calming” and “cozy”. We are so grateful everyday to have our beautiful Conservatory space where our dancers can learn and explore in a safe, cozy, and calming environment. ☺️

Here at Art in Motion we understand the financial burden that dressing your ever-growing dancer for class can be.

Which is why we are launching our Dancewear Exchange Program: because every little bit counts!

Here's how it works:
🩰Bring us your lightly used dancewear that your dancer has grown out of or no longer needs.
🩰Exchange your donation for a similar garment that your dancer does need.
🩰If you don't find anything that fits your dancer at the time of donation, you will receive a token card to redeem at a later date once more donations and swaps have been made.
Simple. Easy.

… and an example of reusing resources within our community that we are so excited to set for our students.

Come participate in the Dancewear Exchange Program when we open our doors for the 2023-2024 school year!

As we prepare for our second season of classes starting August 14th, Miss Bailey has been refining and updating the syllabus for each and every class. And what is on the front page of every single syllabus? Our Mission Statement! 💖💖💖
“To empower students to embrace their individual aptitudes for curiosity, discipline, perseverance, and self-awareness by cultivating artistry.”

This past week dancers in our community spent a week studying with Miss Bailey and Erin Landers. Dancers took Ballet and Modern Dance everyday, participated in Dance History discussions, and worked with Erin as she developed a new work.
It was magic! ✨
We can’t wait to watch these dancers bring all their new knowledge and power to this next dance season. 💕

AIMCompany is Art in Motion’s Performance Team.
AIMCompany is a spectacular way to take a student’s experience with dance to another level. Through performances in the community and at conventions, taking additional classes, learning various repertoire, and even attending live performances, students gain new insight and perspective for the art form.
Think your dancer might be interested in participating in AIMCompany? Attend our parent information session July 22nd to find out more.

5 Things We Forgot to Brag About:

At Art in Motion we do things differently. And we don’t brag enough about some of the things that set us aside from other programs… well because they are just the right things to do:

1. We follow a set of community standards. We have clear parameters for the example we want to set for our students. We hold all adults accountable to these standards. When the adults in the environment model proactive behavior, the students exhibit it.
2. We waive registration fees for all returning students. You have already registered with us once, we don’t need to get that money from you again and again every season.
3. We provide the recital video free of charge for all recital participants. We want you to look back on your dancers progress, and we want that to be accessible for everyone.
4. Costuming is always modest and appropriate. This is just a no brainer. It makes us sad that anyone would run a dance studio differently.
5. Our instructors are qualified to teach dance. You would think that there would be government regulations to ensure this. But there are not. None. Zero. Unfortunately, in our industry many individuals teach dance without any qualifications or appropriate education to do so. Often endangering the bodies and minds of young people. We actively engage in continuing education in an effort to self-regulate an unregulated industry.

We are proud to be reimagining dance education here in the Central Florida Region!

2 days!

Today is a really big day! It’s our first birthday. Art in Motion Conservatory of Dance LLC officially incorporated 1 year ago today! 🥳
AND it is Memorial Day!
AND we are 4 days away from our very first recital!
And oh my has it been an incredible first year! Looking back, it is an honor to have had such an impact on our community and to have such a poignant, blessed journey this first year. We love seeing where we have come from as we prepare for some awesome exciting things to come!
Thanks for joining us!

Art in Motion Conservatory of Dance is counting down the days to our Debut Recital: “Poems for Peace” on June 3rd and 4th
Here is a sneak peek to a poem featured in our show.
“If Peace Comes” by Hakim Karwan

Life will be extremely beautiful when peace comes
Everyone will plant beautiful pine and palm trees
From these sprawling deserts we will make gardens again
We will return to our lands and sow green when peace comes

Once again, every child in my country will have a pen in their hand
We will take up pens and books, and become forgivers
We are tired of this war, we search for peace
We will gather together as brothers.

“Wild Geese” by Mary Oliver

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
for a hundred miles through the desert repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting -
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

“The Youth are…”
by Hiba Mohamed Hassan

The Youth are a pillar
And a national symbol
They are a ray of light
And the future of the whole country
Without them
It means
A house without foundation
And with no entry point (door)
My point is
They can create peace
And can shape the future
Our beautiful land
They can illuminate it
They are Immutable flowers
That can benefit the people

Don’t forget to get up and groove today!

Introducing AIMCompany member, Peyton!
Peyton is 9 and her favorite style of dance is Contemporary.
She wants to work on her leaps!
And she is looking forward to dancing in the hip-hop dance and the contemporary dance.
And she does a great job in those dances!
Peyton is also getting in the spirit for our upcoming recital, “Poems for Peace”.

Each one of our AIMCompany kids put in an impressive amount of work and are incredibly dedicated to one another.

Stay tuned for more AIMCompany Introductions. And be sure to keep up with all the exciting performances we have on the horizon!
