Summer is here! ☀️

Our Summer Program runs Monday–Friday from 9:00 AM–1:00 PM. During this time, the gym may be busier than usual, with up to 18 kids participating in programming.

We encourage families to plan visits accordingly, especially if larger crowds may feel overwhelming for your kiddos.

Our Woodbury location does not have Summer Program this week and is a great option for families looking for a calmer atmosphere!

What is a meltdown recovery box?
A curated collection of tools designed to help individuals—particularly those with autism, sensory processing differences, or anxiety— recover and reduce stress after a meltdown, shutdown, or panic attack.

What’s in a meltdown recovery box and how do I use it?
It is a good idea to create a recovery plan and box before a meltdown happens. This way, after the meltdown there are not more choices added, and you know what to expect. Meltdowns happen sometimes. They do not make you a bad person, and they are not your fault. Every individual will have different things in their recovery box. The most important thing is comfort. A meltdown may make you very tired, hungry, or fidgety. Having some of your favorite comfort items ready for you at home can help you recover easier. Many people like to have a blanket, pillow, pajamas, stuffed animal, fidgets, a snack, water, and something calm to entertain them. Having a favorite show, book, or playlist picked out in advance can help reduce the stress of having to choose after a meltdown. Some people like to take a nap. Before and after a meltdown, you might have trouble figuring out your needs and communicating them. It is ok to be alone, but using communication cards can help too!

Having access to these tools- even if they aren’t always used- can bring a sense of safety and calm. Your box may change over time, and that’s ok! Take a look at our past weekly posts for a deeper dive into sensory safety.
