5’10”. 217 pounds. WORLD SERIES MVP. 🏆
And if you’re an undersized catcher who thinks you can’t compete because of your height…
I want you to pay attention.
William Contreras just helped the Milwaukee Brewers win their FIRST World Series in franchise history.
Earlier this year, he won the World Baseball Classic with Venezuela.
And now he’s a World Series MVP.
But what stands out to me isn’t just the championships.
It’s the ATHLETE he’s developed himself into.
This is a guy who takes his strength training seriously, works on his flexibility, prioritizes recovery, and understands the physical demands of catching.
And despite weighing 217 pounds, he plays the game with an intensity that never seems to disappear.
He also understands something every young catcher needs to learn…
Being a catcher is about more than your physical abilities.
It’s about preparation.
Leadership.
Confidence.
And earning the trust of the pitchers you’re responsible for.
As a 5’10” catcher myself, this is EXACTLY the type of player I want undersized catchers studying.
Not because every 5’10” catcher is going to become William Contreras.
But because your height shouldn’t be the reason you stop believing in what you can become.
You can’t control how tall you’re going to be.
But you CAN control how seriously you take your development.
Your strength. Your speed. Your mobility. Your explosiveness. Your catching skills. Your leadership.
THOSE are things you can work on.
And the sooner you stop using your size as a limitation, the sooner you can start building the athlete you’re capable of becoming.
IF YOU DON’T THINK YOU CAN…
THINK AGAIN.
Build the athlete underneath the catcher.
That’s Catchleticism. ⚾
Send this to an undersized catcher who needs to see it.
