📢 New USEF Medication Update for Competitors and Veterinarians 📢

USEF has announced two important medication changes that take effect immediately:
• Cetirizine is now a permitted substance and may be used during USEF-licensed competitions. Medication Report Forms are no longer required for its use, and it no longer carries a medication penalty.
• Updated methocarbamol withdrawal guidance:
    •    If methocarbamol is the only medication being administered and the horse is not receiving any dietary supplements, the recommended withdrawal time remains 12 hours before competition.
    •    If the horse is receiving any other medication or dietary supplement in addition to methocarbamol, USEF now recommends a 24-hour withdrawal period before competition.

These updates reflect ongoing efforts to align medication guidance with current evidence and practical experience in the field. If you compete under USEF rules, it’s worth reviewing the full announcement to ensure your medication protocols remain compliant.

Today was a wonderful day getting together with the barn family. Missing a few 😫 but great crab feast and cookout. Food was amazing! I’m so grateful for such a wonder group of people, great riders and the BEST boarders. What a day ❣️Thank you FarmBay Chris and Jen for super local crabs that couldn’t have been any more fresh and tasty.

ISO Part time afternoon or weekend help in Edgewater, Md . One of our favorite guys had to have emergency surgery last week. His healing time is long and we are in immediate need of an EXPERIENCED person to do horse care/management for 11-15 show horses and have well behaved stallion handling experience. Great for experienced summer help.
Barn duties:
•Feed, turn out, fill water troughs
horse, minimal cut care and all around
Farm responsibilities
• must be 16 or older
• must have transportation
• must have 5 years show horse handling
experience
• lift 50lbs easily
• No walking restrictions
• Speak good English
Taxes will be taken out so either 1099 eligibility or W2 worker. No exceptions.
Great clients and horses. Family atmosphere .

What a wonderful time again at Upperville Horse Show. Bay View Farm have been coming here since when Randi was riding ponies 😳 and my others Kellie and Laura were riding the juniors and big Eq classes and jumpers. We bought our favorite jumper mare Red Lady here too. Many Many a great story had here. It always out does itself with top notch everything. The grounds, riding “under the oaks” (100 year old trees all in the Main Hunter Ring), the jumps, the staff, just everything❣️ I can’t say enough how everyone should come at least once.
It’s a horse show so you know surprises are always in store too lol. We, Leah Winchell and myself took off on this adventure with her super Thoroughbred “Cosmo”. A HUGE HUGE thank you to Kenny Krome who did last minute catch riding for Leah. The Monday class division had “57” thoroughbreds in it. We were 2nd 5th and 7th ( they split the class into 2 sections, still 30 in the group. Amazing! Then Tuesday they held the 1st ever $25,000 Thoroughbred Derby. Cosmo and Kenny made the top 12 which made them eligible to come back for the second round. Wow again! That was a bit more difficult and the best thing to do was to retire him and leave on a good note. We ended 12th overall 🎉 that’s just amazing to even be in that top group. What a good horse and fantastic rider. Cosmo got a ribbon in every class he entered ❣️❣️❣️ I got to hang out with good friends and a super client and have one of the best times ever. A very happy but tired Cosmo and myself. We will be back again next year🤞🏼

The weather has been sunny all weekend with exception of the high winds flapping tents on Saturday at Jump 4 Fun. Spooked lots of horses in the GP ring. . Ready for Upperville Horse Show now. Dogs having a blast being horse show dogs.
