What a wonderful time again at Upperville Horse Show. Bay View Farm have been coming here since when Randi was riding ponies 😳 and my others Kellie and Laura were riding the juniors and big Eq classes and jumpers. We bought our favorite jumper mare Red Lady here too. Many Many a great story had here. It always out does itself with top notch everything. The grounds, riding “under the oaks” (100 year old trees all in the Main Hunter Ring), the jumps, the staff, just everything❣️ I can’t say enough how everyone should come at least once.
It’s a horse show so you know surprises are always in store too lol. We, Leah Winchell and myself took off on this adventure with her super Thoroughbred “Cosmo”. A HUGE HUGE thank you to Kenny Krome who did last minute catch riding for Leah. The Monday class division had “57” thoroughbreds in it. We were 2nd 5th and 7th ( they split the class into 2 sections, still 30 in the group. Amazing! Then Tuesday they held the 1st ever $25,000 Thoroughbred Derby. Cosmo and Kenny made the top 12 which made them eligible to come back for the second round. Wow again! That was a bit more difficult and the best thing to do was to retire him and leave on a good note. We ended 12th overall 🎉 that’s just amazing to even be in that top group. What a good horse and fantastic rider. Cosmo got a ribbon in every class he entered ❣️❣️❣️ I got to hang out with good friends and a super client and have one of the best times ever. A very happy but tired Cosmo and myself. We will be back again next year🤞🏼

This shows the area NOT to pull in front of a trailer of ANY kind. That is the area it takes to stop a larger load. Please be aware and please keep everyone safe especially if we have horses or any type large trailer we are pulling. It happens daily to trucks pulling larger loads then if you were just in a car.
Stay calm & focused.
You can save lives.

Barn staff and trainers understand your desire to want to spend as much time as possible with your horse, April Bilodeau writes. While some barns may have open hours and you may come and go as you please, others may choose to implement barn hours, and for good reason.
You may not think it makes a big difference to come to the barn a half hour earlier than its set “open” time, but consider these few points before pulling up the driveway a little early next time.
Safety: While it may be quiet and peaceful to ride outside of barn hours, a major reason for barns to have set times for riding is to make sure that someone is on property while riders are riding. If something were to happen, whether it be your horse getting loose or you take a fall, who would be able to help you?
Structured Schedules: Most farms have set feeding times, turnout times, a whole daily schedule that the horses get accustomed to. Arriving early may cause anxiety or confusion in horses that expect to be fed upon someone arriving at the barn. Leaving late may disrupt night check schedules by not providing barn management to check on horses at the appropriate time should a horse have to eat late or be cooled out late.
Privacy: Many farm owners live on property, meaning their backyard is a constant flow of people coming and going to visit their horses. It’s important to respect the privacy of the farm owner by visiting during barn hours. Just think how you would be feel about someone being in your backyard at 6am, or 8pm!
If your farm has barn hours that don’t work for your schedule, talk to your trainer, barn manager, or farm owner. Chances are, they are open to being flexible on some days to accommodate your schedule, but in this case it’s better to ask for permission than forgiveness!

Nice 2 weeks at Swan Lakes’s St Christopher’s and Blue Rock “AA” rated shows for the ladies.
St Christopher’s :
Astronomical and Leah Winchell had nice ribbons 3,4 6 in big Thoroughbred Hunter Division and a nice round in the $5k Derby. It was Reagan K’s first rated show ever, (her eyes got big and for a brief minute was a bit overwhelmed when she saw the size of the show, lol). She did fantastic and rode Caleesi like a champ!💪🏼. 7th Cpjhsa Eq O/F, and 7th Low Children’s Hunters out of a large group.
Blue Rock:
Astronomical and Leah were 6,6,8th in the Thoroughbred Hunters, Reagan and Caleesi were spot on by day 2 and 3rd U/S, and 3rd and,6th O/F out of 17! Way to start your rated shows 🎉
