THAT’S A WRAP ON THE OCTOBER BANJO SHOOT! 🏆🪕💥

Five weeks. Five challenges. Plenty of broken clays, friendly competition, a few scoring controversies, and more than a little laughter!

From Trap Singles and Doubles to Wobble and our grand finale with the HULA HOOPS ⭕️, you all brought your A-game (and occasionally your questionable balance)! 😂

A huge THANK YOU to everyone who participated, helped organize, kept score, handed out prizes, and made this such a fun October at Three Rivers. 🎃 🍂 🍁 💥

CONGRATULATIONS TO OUR OVERALL WINNERS! 💥

Mike Stevens — 1st Place
Luke Frey & Danny Guy — 2nd Place (Tie)
Robert Paddy — 3rd Place
JD Hood - 4th Place

And let’s not forget our hardworking stewards, who somehow survived five weeks of scorekeeping, protests, and allegations of shooting without their glasses! 🤓🏎️

Most importantly, it was all about good friends, good sportsmanship, and having a great time together.

Thanks for making the first October Banjo Shoot a success!

Until next time… PADDLE FASTER, SHOOT BETTER! 🛶 💥

‼️ UPDATE ‼️

Final decision from the Stewards…

First off, the scores on the tally sheet are correct. The Stewards, through great effort and hardship were able to reference the “official” scoresheets (thanks, Gary) and observed that the tallied scores are indeed correct. Kudos to the official (Big Dan) who through great diligence, observations, perseverance, and a sharp pencil, was able to complete the official record and ensure that it was placed where it could be properly referenced for just such an occasion.

The problem seems to have been that directly after the squad finished their round, the Stewards announced incorrect scores for at least two players without proper verification. A pair of eyeglasses could have eliminated this situation entirely. Clearly, this is a violation of the unofficial rules of the Banjo Shoot, which I’m making up as we go.

This egregious mistake by the Stewards cannot be brushed aside and the Stewards have determined that a penalty is in fact applicable in this situation, for the Stewards.

As the squad had finished their event when the heinous act took place, the Stewards have decided that a reduction in birds hit would not be appropriate. In keeping with the spirit of Formula 1 (don’t ask me why I used that reference, I just liked it) it would seem appropriate that a handicap be issued from the Stewards to the Stewards for the next shoot. As such, the Stewards have decided that during the next event (Week 4, Wobble House), that the Stewards (that would mean me) have to shoot the house pair on post three - the top position - from the hip.

That is the Stewards decision and just like in Formula 1 there will be no further decision or discussion coming from them. As far as the Stewards are concerned this investigation is closed.

So come out one and all and cheer on the Stewards as they (me) miss at least two birds next week, maybe many more!

And as always, Break’em all!

That is unless the Stewards decide to abide by whatever new rules they come up with before then!

🚨🏎️ BREAKING NEWS:
THREE RIVERS SCOREGATE! 📝

Following a formal protest from a shooter about the Banjo Shoot’s Week 3 Doubles score, our highly trained stewards have been ordered to review the official results. 🔍

Mistakes by the stewards cannot be tolerated, and as such a formal review will be conducted.

👀 Meanwhile, a rumor has surfaced…

There is a rumor that the stewards may have attempted to tally the scores WITHOUT THEIR GLASSES! 🤓😱

If proven true, a penalty may be forthcoming against the stewards themselves—a historic first in both Formula 1 racing AND the storied Three Rivers Banjo Shoot!

🏁🔍 The investigation is ongoing. The paperwork is being reviewed. The glasses are being located. 👓

Stay tuned for the official ruling. Will the complainant get his points back, or will the stewards be penalized for driving without proper vision? 🤣🤣

At Three Rivers, even the scorekeepers are subject to review!

Stand by sports fans, more info will be forthcoming!
