Alaska Nanooks XC This is the official page of the University of Alaska Fairbanks Skiing and Running Teams

With three individual NCAA national champions and over 15 NCAA All Americans in the past seven seasons, the University of Alaska Fairbanks has established itself as one of the top Nordic ski programs in the country. Recently the women's running team made program history by finishing 4th at the 2011 Regional Championship and earning the first team bid in the NCAA Championship. The University of Alaska Fairbanks is an NCAA D-II institution with scholarships for both skiing and running. The Nanooks compete in the Rocky Mountain Intercollegiate Ski Association and the Great Northwest Athletic Conference for running. A long season of snow (mid October through the end of April) and low altitude make Fairbanks an ideal location for elite cross country skiers to train and study. The University boasts excellent programs in a wide variety of subjects including engineering, natural resource management, fisheries, biology, business and art.

RECAP | Nanooks Place Seventh in Both Races at Bill Roe Classic

FERNDALE, Wash. - The Alaska Nanooks cross country teams competed at the 2026 Bill Roe Classic at Hovander Park on Saturday morning, with both the men's and women's teams placing seventh. The men finished with 182 points, while the women finished with 170.

FERNDALE, Wash. - The Alaska Nanooks cross country team will race in the 2026 Bill Roe Classic, hosted by Western Washington, on Saturday, Sept. 26. The men will race first at 9 a.m. AKST in an 8k race and the women will race after at 10 a.m. AKST in a 6k race.
