National Champions 🏆🚣‍♀️

The St. Thomas Aquinas High School Girls Rowing Team made a statement on the national stage this weekend at the Scholastic Rowing Association of America National Championship Regatta in Tennessee!

Our Girls Junior Four crew of Hailey Chaiken, Gianna Attento, Alana Fernandes, Maite Thorndike, and Rylan Dudley captured the National Championship with a first-place finish in the final to become NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! 🥇

The Girls Junior Quad of Grace Miner, Olivia Hickey, Lucia Magilligan, and Emma Yaeger also delivered an outstanding performance, advancing to the semifinals and finishing as the No. 10 crew in the nation.

Congratulations to all of our student-athletes and coaches for representing STA with pride, determination, and excellence!

It was a special afternoon on Wednesday as we got to celebrate not only our uniball Late Signing Day student-athletes, but also our 6️⃣ State Championship squads 💯 🗣️

With nearly twenty student-athletes committing to the next level and six banners dropping from the rafters, this afternoon embodied what it TRULY means to be a Raider 🥳🥹

Congratulations to Baseball C/O ‘20 alum Blake Purnell on making his MiLB debut with the Dunedin Blue Jays (High-A)

Purnell spent time this past year with the baseball program as a coach, and now is dealing himself on the diamond 💯

We got the special opportunity to hold a special graduation ceremony for our senior baseball and flag football student-athletes this week 👏

While they were busy last weekend competing in State Championships, they still got that once in a lifetime opportunity to walk across the stage 🥳

They defeat Bucholz 5-1 to claim the program’s fifth state championship 🔥

Congratulations to our very own Cross Country and Track & Field coach Trish Butler on being inducted into the 2026 NC State Hall of Fame ‼️

She was a part of the 1980 Women’s Cross Country team that repeated as ACC and AIAW champions 💍
