September 11, 2001
Twenty-five years ago today, on a Tuesday evening, our Mantis class gathered as we had gathered so many times before.
We came to train.
We saluted.
We practiced.
We continued.
That morning, the world changed.
We remember the thousands of people who lost their lives on September 11, 2001—the passengers, the people in the buildings, the firefighters, police officers, first responders, and all those who ran toward danger while others were running away.
We remember, too, the families and friends who were left behind.
As martial artists, we are taught that strength is not simply the ability to fight. Strength is the discipline to remain steady when the world becomes unsteady. It is the courage to protect others, the compassion to help those who suffer, and the wisdom to understand that every day we are given is a gift.
Twenty-five years later, we still train.
Not because we have forgotten.
Because we remember.
May we honor those who were lost by the way we live, the way we treat one another, and the courage with which we face each new day.

3rd hour Wednesday and Thursday this week. Bring your blade. We will be doing live blade cutting. It is the blade, it is the physical technique, most importantly it is the mind of the swordsman that matters.

Open Weapons Class. We looked at Miao Dao techniques derived from Shinkage Ryu. A really fun time!
