Where Rodeo Meets the Road

John Crimber, the 2026 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) world champion, made his official debut at the historic Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo on Tuesday in championship style.

The bull rider from Decatur, Texas, notched the highest score of the first five rodeo performances when he rode Dakota Rodeo’s bull named Buck Rogers for 90.5 points. Crimber, who has been phenomenal on the PBR circuit since he turned 18, turned his sights to the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association early this year and, despite a limited early season schedule, is ranked 11th in the bull riding world championship standings and third in the rookie of the year standings.

Four-time world champion saddle bronc rider Zeke Thurston took first on Monday at the 130th Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo. The Canadian cowboy scored 89 points on a mare from Brookman Rodeo named Prima Donna to advance to the semifinals.

Emily Beisel and her home-raised nine-year-old gelding named Vanilla Gorilla that she calls “Trigger” posted the fastest time at the 130th Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo (CFD) to top the toughest barrel racing field at Frontier Park thus far in 2026. Kash Loyd Ba****ck Rider, the 2024 National High School Ba****ck Riding Champion from Cleburne, Texas, rode a horse named High Hills from Stace Smith Rodeo for 88 points to tie for first place in ba****ck riding at the first performance of the 130th Cheyenne Frontier Days Rodeo.
