Congratulations to Tsunami’s September 2026 Swimmers of the Month!! We are so grateful for their hard work! Here is what their coaches had to say about them:

Aiden C. (Bronze): “Aiden works hard at practice and listens well. He asks good questions and tries to implement the feedback that he receives during practice.”
Emily W. (Bronze): “Emily has a positive attitude at practice and listens to the coaches, taking in what’s asked of her without any complaints.”
Garrett P. (Silver): “Garrett has worked incredibly hard at practice and had an amazing first meet!”
Leasil E. (Silver): “Leasil has a positive attitude and makes a solid effort to implement adjustments the coaches have provided.”
Ethan T. (Gold): “Ethan is one of the gold group leaders in practice attendance, and is an extremely hard worker at practice. He has a positive attitude, always eager for each set. During the initial meet of the season, Ethan pushed himself in the pool, dropping time in every event he swam.”

On September 12th, our very own Karen Tiberio was honored at VA Swimming's Officials Swimposium for her outstanding service with Tsunami Swimming.

If you’ve been part of Tsunami, chances are Karen has helped you in more ways than you even realize. Our team simply would not run the same without her.

Karen gives countless hours of her time and energy to our swimmers, coaches, and families, and she does it because she genuinely cares about this team and the people in it.

We are incredibly grateful that Virginia Swimming took the opportunity to recognize what those of us at Tsunami already know: Karen is an essential part of our team.

Congratulations, Karen, on this very well-deserved recognition.

Tsunami ended our first week back at practice with a fun night watching the FredNats beat the Wilson Warbirds 24-2! Our swimmers got to relax, unwind, and hang out with friends away from the pool. There were (a lot!) of foul balls, peanuts, and ice cream 🍦. It was a wonderful night that ended in fireworks 🎆. What a great way to start off the 2026-27 short course season! Welcome back, swimmers! 🌊

Congratulations to our Tsunami swimmers who competed this past weekend at the Virginia Age Group Championships at Liberty University!

To qualify for individual and relay events, swimmers had to achieve the required championship time standards throughout the regular season—a tremendous accomplishment in itself.

Levi Auker, Caspian Hopewell, Tyler Tiberio, Luke Mersiovsky, and Tripp Wile represented Tsunami with outstanding performances in their individual events.

In the 11–12 age group, Levi swam a personal-best time in the 50 Freestyle to place 31st. Caspian competed in the 50 Freestyle and earned a 26th-place finish in the 50 Breaststroke.

In the 13–14 division, Tripp competed in three individual events, highlighted by a 22nd-place finish in the 50 Backstroke. Tyler raced in four individual events, dropping 1.3 seconds for a personal best in the 100 Breaststroke and finishing 28th. Luke competed in six individual events, earning four appearances in the Virginia Swimming Finals. He set new Tsunami team records in both the 100 Backstroke, where he finished 8th, and the 200 Backstroke, where he placed 7th.

What made this championship meet even more special was that Tsunami qualified not one, but two relay teams! Together, the relays earned an impressive 76 team points.

The 11–12 Boys relay team of Luke Field, Caspian Hopewell, Johnny Fiefhaus, and Levi Auker finished 10th in the 400 Medley Relay, 12th in the 200 Medley Relay, and 11th in the 200 Freestyle Relay. The team also swam personal-best times in both the 400 Medley Relay and the 200 Freestyle Relay.

The 13–14 Boys relay team of Jacob Field, Tyler Tiberio, Tripp Wile, and Luke Mersiovsky showed incredible resilience. After overcoming a difficult start to the meet, they finished 16th in the 200 Medley Relay before placing 10th in the 200 Freestyle Relay, where they set a new Tsunami team record!

Congratulations to all of our swimmers, coaches, and parents on an incredible Virginia Age Group Championship meet. Your hard work, perseverance, and dedication were on full display, and we couldn't be more proud of all you accomplished!
