Reminder:

Saturday is Club Cleaning Day and our Annual Club meeting! There will be a potluck. Feel free to bring a dish to pass.

Cleaning starts at 10 am. Lunch / Meeting start at noon.

For today’s Michigan Division - MI DIV Fencing Championship events, we had one more fencer compete.

Congratulations to Oliver Erway for placing 3rd in Y10 saber!

Rowyn Warren placed 6th in Senior Women’s Saber
Matthew Oxie tied for 3rd place in Senior Men’s Saber
Jeremy Diepstra tied for 3rd place in Senior Men’s Foil
Jeff Edwards placed 8th in Senior Mixed Epee

Also, our fencers were able to sweep the season’s Iron Man Awards

Matthew Oxie won the Iron Man award
Kyleigh Mankel won the Iron Woman award
Madeline Gregoricka won the Iron Youth award.

A BRFA Farewell!

After many years of dedicated work, board members Jonathan and Carrie Owens and Scott Green are retiring from the Bay Regional Fencing Alliance. In 2016, Carrie, Jonathan, and Scott, together with a few others, founded the fencing club. The club initially had six members and now has over eighty five members and hosts ten tournaments per year.

Carrie, Jonathan, and Scott will be greatly missed as new dedicated board members and volunteers step into their roles. While Carrie and Scott are fully retiring, Jonathan would still like to remain semi-involved with reffing around the state and doing some private lessons on the side.

A huge thank you to all the volunteers and board members at BRFA and best wishes to Carrie, Jonathan and Scott!

A note from Carrie: It’s been a fun 19 years of fencing for our family! We have made a lot of friends and many we call our fencing family. You will all be truly missed, but we hope to see you here and there as we are able. We are looking forward to spending more time at home with our kids, who aren’t exactly kids anymore and taking those vacations we never have time for.
