Hole 8 is an island-green par 3 ⛳ The biggest mistake we see is players trying to force a shot at a tucked pin. That serves as a good reminder that smart golf usually beats flashy golf. The pin can look tempting, but the real move is to take the water out of play.
If you leave yourself a 20-foot birdie putt and your ball still dry, you played it right. 🏌️

Any professional or amateur golfer with a Handicap Index of 0.4 or better can throw their name in for the U.S. Open, but making it to golf's biggest stage is another story.
The USGA makes sure nobody gets comfortable, with narrow fairways, thick rough, and greens so fast that a confident putt can roll 10 feet past the hole. Watching the world's best battle through it all is what makes the U.S. Open one of the most exciting weeks in golf 🏆
