Here’s all of my current meals and they add up for a total of 3,687 calories on my training days right now as I’m week 3 of this growth phase.

Appetite is starting to ramp up again and my pumps have been absolutely awesome. Strength is still continuing to climb and my sleep has been the best it’s ever been in an offseason. On my rest days my food is slightly lower and currently I am allowed 1 free meal of choice per week.

If you have any questions about my diet please feel free to ask!

A great push day in the books with my bro as usual. I’m still running two push days per week to bring up my upper body and to focus on adding more depth and thickness to my chest and delts. This has worked great for me last offseason and this one as well.

Full training session ⬇️

Prime Pec Fly - 2x8-10, 1x10-12 (2 top sets, 1 back off)

Watson Smith Machine Press - 1x8-10, 1x10 (1 top set, 1 back off) The heaviest smith machine ever lol

Atlantis Chest Press - 2x8-10 (2 top sets)

DB Side Lateral Raise - 2x10-12, 1x12-15 (2 top sets, 1 back off)

Cable Rear Delt Cross Over - 2x10-12, 1x10-12 (2 top sets, 1 back off)

Here are some of my athletes who have been absolutely killing it so far this year. I’m beyond grateful to be in each of these gentlemen’s corners!

First is who is currently in prep for the Indy Supershow which is almost 6 weeks away. On the left is last year during prep at around the same number of weeks out as the right, which is our current look. One of our main goals was to bring up the entire posterior which we did just that!

Next is .12.12 who is currently 8 days out from the NPC North Coast Championships. On the left was the end of our offseason and the right is our current look. I’m beyond excited to see the look on stage and for him to have an incredible first show!

Then has been on absolute roll this offseason. On the left was late August last year and on the right was a few days ago! We went from 222lbs to 252lbs while keeping fat gain to a minimum and improving in all aspects. Super excited to see the improvements from last show to this show as we plan to compete this fall.

During my time under Louie Simmons I was able to build incredible strength on my squat. One of the biggest contributors was becoming great at dynamic effort. Listed below is why it’s so beneficial.

1. Dynamic effort training recruits type 2x muscle fibers which these fibers are utilized for maximum force output or maximum velocity output by the central nervous system. Dynamic effort requires all out bar speed so you’re able to recruit these fibers without needing near maximal load. In a sense very similar to how you’d approach compensatory acceleration training for overall motor unit recruitment.

2. The ability to utilize accommodating resistance. When using bands or chains the weight will increase as you get to the top of the lift (finishing the concentric). This allows for constant tension and no “dead zone” so that the strength curve stays relatively consistent. This will also help you become prepared for heavier loads as you progress over the 3 week wave of the variation selected for dynamic effort. It takes approximately 3 weeks for adaption to the speed stimulus.

3. Dynamic effort builds great explosive starting strength. Utilizing a box will take away the stretch shortening cycle which is primarily driven by stored elastic energy. When doing dynamic effort with a box you’re able to remove the stretch reflex and focus on generating force from almost a dead stop.

These are the 3 most common reasons that I see as a coach that causes athletes to struggle to get truly stage lean. These mistakes are basic and very easy to correct but the athlete has to take charge and stay committed to the process.
