Calling on all Vikings to help!

First, I want to praise the varsity football team and all the parents and community members who continually show up to support, encourage, and love our Vikings! This year has been a blast so far and I only see greater things in front of us. I love coming to work. Thank you all.

Second, I would like to invite any parents or community members interested in showing up to love the team, to please do so. We can't have too much positive support! You may plug in by joining the Vikings Gridiron Club. You can receive information through their Remind App by texting: To: 81010

Third, we need your help encouraging our young kids. Each year we struggle with freshman accountability and often with sophomores. This summer half of our freshmen did not attend summer training. Last year we had to dismiss 16 freshmen for stealing, coming to school under the influence, skipping practice, and failing grades - such as making 16s and 17s in class. Over the past few years we have had double digit underclassmen be sent to alternative school. 4 arrested for gun violence. Just this week we had over 2 dozen underclassmen skip practice. I spoke to a coach at DF and not one player missed practice Monday. Simply, we cannot coach them if they are not here... They cannot become great if they do not show up and put in the work.

Our program is designed to help our children become elite. Not just on the field, as we are having many receive college opportunities, but more importantly in life. Things we do for our children include, but are not limited to:
-Check their grades multiple times a week.
-Require study hall and provide tutors.
-Feed them daily, often multiple times.
-Have a mental health counselor on staff.
-Provide transportation daily.
-Teach emotional agility.
-Teach professionalism and offer professional opportunities such as our intern program.
-Require civic engagement.
-Expose them to college campuses and military services.
-Provide the best uniforms, facilities, schedules, and coaches available.
-And more.

Yet, none of this matters if the children do not show up to take advantage of it. Experience only comes with experience, and you must be present to obtain it. The bible declares that if you don't work, you don't eat. We are trying to feed them! Thanks for your help and support! Go Vikings!
