Time for a non-diving post!

We began fostering River, an extremely sweet hound dog from the Alachua County Animal Shelter during the wildfire evacuation a few weeks ago. While we'd love to keep him ourselves, we already have two dogs who keep our hands full.

Feel free to reach out if you or someone you know would be interested in adopting this fine fellow. We'd be happy to arrange a meet and greet!

We've got 2-3 spots open for an Advanced Open Water (AOW) / Advanced Adventure Diver class next month, June 13-14. We'll spend one day in the springs (Hudson or Buford, conditions depending) and one day doing ocean dives off a local Jupiter (or Tampa) charter.

Complimentary rental gear included.

We highly recommend diving Nitrox to give you extra bottom time on the boat, and offer a heavily discounted TDI technical nitrox cert ($100; evening pre-trip workshop) for our AOW students. This hands-on workshop goes in depth into the science of diving nitrox, and certifies you for gas mixes of up to 40% O2.

Divemaster candidate Erin joined in on Lily's SDI Open Water Diver course this weekend. There was significant disagreement between instructors as to whether divers should be positive or negative (negative, obviously). Either way, congrats to you both on an awesome class!

It was so good to see so many students at our recent fun dive for new divers at Devil’s Den! It can be hard to find buddies and get back in the water after your open water certification.

Guided fun dives are a great chance for newly certified divers to see new sites and meet new buddies. Hope to host another for our recent open water grads soon!

These group dives are open to Spring Run’s recent/beginner-level open water graduates, at no additional charge (beyond site entry fees). Limited complimentary gear available for past students.

Thanks, Bill!

We spent the day with local springs divers Jennifer & Andrew, working on weighting, trim, and buoyancy as part of their drysuit course! Drysuits not only keep you warmer, but give tech and cave divers a source of redundant buoyancy - especially when diving heavy steel tanks.

We headed to Orange Grove last weekend for Brayden’s first introduction to diving doubles. The doubles primer doesn’t usually involve so much creativity in entering and exiting the water! I’ve never seen Orange Grove so low. Throwback to 2022 for comparison (right), when the water level was over the top deck.

Despite a freak hailstorm, Caroline, Keira, and Victoria survived their open water course!

Tired of cutting your (or your buddy's…😡) dives short because you get cold? Learning to dive dry not only keeps you warmer, but gives tech and cave divers a source of redundant buoyancy. If you’re thinking about coldwater diving, or venturing into tech/cave training, diving dry is the next step. We have three spots left for a dry suit class on Sunday April 19th - no prior experience or equipment needed. We are happy to arrange drysuits rentals.

Another great deep diver specialty class! Karen and Lindsey learned to expand their depth rating (130 feet!) with minimal dive traffic (and only a few bug bites!). We worked on gas and computer dive planning, and how to use redundant gas supplies to manage the increased risks (DCS, narcosis, limited vis) divers experience at depth. Excellent work (deep) down there. See you around the springs!

After surviving two sub-30 degrees Fahrenheit days (and snow flurries) in February, Emily, Kali, and Abigail finally got to experience warm weather diving. Congrats on your new certifications and thanks for putting up with the cold!
