In our military community, the mental and emotional impacts of service can run deep, and nobody should have to carry that weight alone.

While we look out at the beautiful scenery today, we are also reminded to look out for our battle buddies. September is Veteran Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month.

No veteran should ever have to fight their darkest battles alone. This month, we challenge everyone in our community to do a quick "Buddy Check". A simple call, a text, or catching up over a cup of coffee can completely change the path of someone’s day.

Today, on National POW/MIA Recognition Day, the VFW Riders Group Texas District 19 stands united in solemn remembrance. We honor the unmatched courage of our American service members who endured the hardships of captivity as prisoners of war, and we pledge our eternal devotion to the patriots who have yet to return home.

As riders and veterans, we carry the promise of the POW/MIA flag on our vests and in our hearts: Until they all come home, we will never stop riding for them, and we will never forget.

We also stand shoulder-to-shoulder with the military families who continue to wait, hope, and keep the memories of their loved ones alive. Your strength inspires us, and your sacrifice will never be ignored.

Take a moment today to reflect on the empty chair, look up at the black and white flag, and honor those who gave up their freedom to secure ours.

George Jones knew exactly how it felt to drop the clutch on a long workweek and head out into the freedom of the weekend. For the crew here at VFW Riders Group Chapter TX-19, that freedom hits a little deeper when we are out on the open Texas road together.

As we roll through September, we are fiercely mindful that this is National Veteran Su***de Prevention and Awareness Month. While we frequently talk about checking in on our battle buddies, let's look at what makes our bond unique. Many veterans turn to "wind therapy" because the road clears the noise, but the true healing comes from the pack. Riding together restores the exact military camaraderie, trust, and shared purpose that can feel missing after the uniform comes off. If you are working through your own internal struggles, remember that you are never riding alone.

Please come out for the Sixth Annual Run for the V 5K Run, Ruck, or Walk. Hosted right here at Benbrook VFW Post 10429 (1000 Stevens Drive), this event directly fights veteran su***de with proceeds benefiting vital non-profits like the One Tribe Foundation and VetStarts. Registration is $35 online at Athlete360 through Saturday or $40 on race day. Bring the family—the Kids 1K Fun Run is entirely free!

🏍️ Looking Ahead to March 2027: Mark your calendars for the Second Annual Ride for the V, officially scheduled for Saturday, March 20, 2027. We are already circulating sponsorship brochures and flyers. Our goal this year is to step up and crush our previous fundraising targets by at least 50%. Grab some packets at the post, spread the word to local businesses, and let's get ready to make next spring's ride our most impactful one yet.

Looking back at one of our favorite memories—our 2nd Anniversary BBQ Night!

We celebrated two years of community, camaraderie, and service the best way we know how: with incredible food, amazing company, and a packed house. A huge shoutout again to The Lonesome Fugitive for bringing the house down with some unforgettable live music! 🎶🤠

It’s hard to believe how fast time flies—we are already coming up on our 4th anniversary this February 2027! We are so grateful for everyone who has supported VFW Riders Group TX-19 along this journey. Here’s to many more miles, memories, and milestones together!
