Aiden Slightom Racing

We can’t let this honor go unrecognized! Last weekend Aiden was awarded for his efforts at the Midwest Thunder race in Kalamazoo, Aiden earned the Hard Charger Award after driving from P3 in the C Main all the way to P4 in the A Main. 💪🏻💪🏻 A huge thank you to Velocita by Borsos Racing for this awesome recognition. It means so much! ❤️

Midwest Thunder Round #2 Recap

Sometimes in racing you can do everything right. You can have a great car, have a good starting position, etc. and still not get a great outcome. In racing you can’t control other drivers actions or if something breaks. Racing is racing sometimes.

Heavy Honda
Heat- P4 ➡️ P1 🥇❤️🏎️🏁
A Main- P2 ➡️ P2 🥈💪🏻 Lead some laps in this race! After 850,000 cautions the tires decided they were done and Aiden slid his way to a 2nd place finish.

Heavy 160
Heat- P5 ➡️ P4
B Main- P4 ➡️ P2
A Main- P8 ➡️ P5 This car was a rocket! With 12 laps to go Aiden made a pass for 2nd or 3rd (we can’t remember) and was spun out! To the tail we went. Made his way back up to 5th with the time he had left.

Heavy World Formula
Heat- P5 ➡️ P2 🥈💪🏻
A Main- P4 ➡️ DNF Aiden was up in podium position when a bolt from his birdcage came lose. We had a lot of help in the pits and got him back out. He worked his way back up and then it did it AGAIN!! 👎🏻 Fixed again and back out there to only be pushed on a restart and slammed to the ground breaking a radius rod and bending the axle. Our many angels in the pit couldn’t get it fixed in time. 😔

Unrestricted Animal
Heat- P3 ➡️ P1 🥇❤️🏎️🏁
A Main- P2 ➡️ P2 🥈💪🏻 At the start of this race Aiden was spun causing quite the pile up. This bent his right front caster block but a rerack/restart and just push your way through the race broken car and all is what he did! Congratulations to our teammate Chase Carter on the win! 👏🏻👏🏻

We could not be more proud of this kid! He is a sponge! He takes what people tell him and just does it! He’s had a lot of fun learning and running these Restricted Micros the last couple of weeks.

Heat- P3 ➡️ P5
Feature- P18 ➡️ P13👏🏻 This kid listened, avoided crashes and looked good while doing it!

In this type of racing track position is everything. It’s hard to move through the field. For his 3rd time out (2nd he didn’t get many laps) we are counting this as a win!

We are playing in the dirt again this weekend! Last night had its ups and downs. Aiden was really getting a good feel for it though!

Heat- P3➡️P5
Qualifier- P8➡️P8
Feature- P15➡️DNF Aiden got pushed into the tire at the beginning of the race (causing some damage) and sent to the back. 👎🏻 After the restart Aiden was going for a pass and another car stopped on the track. He and another car didn’t have anywhere to go 💥 again so the damage was worse. He tried to wheel it broken but it just wasn’t happening. He spun out and decided he was done.

Aiden was super bummed because he thought the car felt good in the short amount of racing he got to do in the feature. He was ready to rip but sometimes racing happens and it’s just not your day. We will be back at it again tonight!

Restricted Micro Results

We had ZERO expectations going into this! Aiden’s never been in a micro before so really the goal was to learn something, come out in one piece, and have fun! Mission accomplished!!

Heat- P6 ➡️ P6 He came in the pits with gas all over him and saying the throttle was sticking. Fuel leak fixed but throttle was Aiden. The gas and brake are very close together in these cars so when he was hitting the brake he was also hitting the throttle so he was making good passes but when he would do that he lost spots when he was washing out. Put a plate on the gas pedal to help and lesson learned!

A Main- P16 ➡️ P10 👏🏻 This race was timed out but Aiden stayed out of wrecks, had great restarts, and got more comfortable as the race went on. Still a lot to learn but he said he had fun!
