Virginia Fly Fishing Shop, Orvis Endorsed Outfitter and Guide Service, Home of the Virginia Orvis Fly Fishing School, and Online Store located in the Heart of the Shenandoah Valley. Our fly shop is located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley only minutes away from spring creek brown trout on the famous Mossy Creek. We are also surrounded by wild brook trout in the freestone mountain streams of The George Washington National Forest and Shenandoah National Park. We fish for Smallmouth bass, musky, and carp on the Shenandoah and James Rivers. Our shop also manages many stretches of private trophy trout water on local spring creeks and rivers. Private and corporate fly fishing lessons and clinics are available at our schools in Harrisonburg or Wintergreen Resort, Virginia. Our store stocks Orvis, Simms, Patagonia, Fishpond, Reddington, Umpqua, Montana Fly, Brodin, C&F, Rio, NRS, Tenkara, Renzetti, Wapsi, Rumpf, Spirit River, Kreinik, and many more great products. We have the largest selection of fly tying material in the state. Whether you are looking for big browns, rainbows, or brook trout, our expert staff and guides will help you plan a trip to remember.

It’s been a couple years of lantern flies showing up in many of our fisheries. This is a rainbow refusing a natural lantern fly. What are you seeing where you fish…Are fish eating the lantern fly or passing them up?! Are you making lantern fly patterns?

We haven’t seen streamer fishing conditions like this in quite some time! Cooler weather, overcast skies means waders, rain gear, and big flies. Dust off the 6wt rods and go catch a big one!

We are grinding away every day in low water this summer. The bass are spooky on the sunny days but river traffic is at an all time low. There isn’t much competition out there right now with the South Fork running at base flow. We are hoping the weather pattern change ahead will bring us some rain to boost flows to make the big fish like this one a tad easier to eat!
