This past Tuesday 6 hikers enjoyed arguably one of our most scenic hikes at Kelly’s Run Pinnacle Overlook in Holtwood Pa.
Only 1 hour from Newark De area.
Kelly’s Run is a stream that cuts a steep gorge filled with tumbled rocks and boulders and whole hillsides of Rhododendron with many small waterfalls as it makes its way to to the Susquehanna River. Most every hiker has said it’s their favorite hike and most scenic that the club does once they do the hike.
It’s a 6 mile hike total where we hike up the creek then we cut off and hike to Pinnacle Overlook which sits about 700’ above the Susquehanna River for a spectacular view. Then we return back down to Kelly’s Run and complete the loop.
You need to be in shape for the 1100’ of elevation gain buts it’s so rewarding.
This hike is on our calendar two more times for Saturday May 16th and Tuesday June 9th. Open to WTC members and people who want to try us out.
Come on two free hikes before having to Join. Only $18/yr
Go to our website Wilmingtontrailclub.org to view our hikes and details. No need to register just show up a bit early.
