HDC SENIOR RUBY MCFARLAND ✨
We are so proud of our pre-professional dancers who dedicate so much of their time, heart, and passion to their training, artistry, and the HDC community.
As a senior, Ruby reflects on her journey at HDC—from being a young dancer at HDC to becoming a mentor and inspiration to the next generation.

“Being a part of the pre-professional program at HDC involves many hours of rigorous training, but has given me the opportunity to become a much stronger dancer and develop my artistry. Throughout the year, we train in multiple styles, including ballet, pointe, modern, jazz, repertory, and more, allowing me to expand my movement vocabulary and feel comfortable across multiple disciplines of dance. I am so blessed to have been a part of so many performances with HDC and get a true taste of what a professional dance career looks like.
My favorite part about the HDC community and teachers is the constant support and love they provide. Throughout all of our classes, every teacher encourages us to be the best we can and is determined to provide one-on-one support in order to grow our technique and confidence. Not only are they all great teachers, but they are also amazing people. It’s so easy to talk to each of them, and they make everyone at HDC feel so comfortable and loved.
I’ve been dancing at HDC from a young age, and my journey has been so rewarding. I was once one of the youngest dancers in the room and dreamed of becoming one of the older kids. Now that I’ve made it to that point, I’m so excited to be a mentor to the younger dancers and share my love for dance with others.
My growth would not have been possible without the support from all of the teachers at HDC, but especially the director, Annie Arnoult. She has always believed in me and my dance journey and has never failed to help me achieve each and every one of my dreams!!”
