HOUSTON RED STORM CAP TRAINING CAMP AND LAUNCH 20TH ANNIVERSARY SEASON UNDER THE THEME "THE TIME IS NOW"

HOUSTON, TX — The Houston Red Storm have officially completed a grueling training camp, transitioning their focus from preseason preparation to season play. With the 2026–2027 campaign marking the franchise's historic 20th Anniversary season, the organization is locked in on a single objective under this year's official mantra: "The Time Is NOW."

The journey begins in just 20 days on Saturday, September 19th, when the Red Storm host the reigning 2025–2026 Maximum Basketball League Champion DFW Gorillas at the Spirit of Life Gym (7300 Nordling Rd). Tip-off is set for 6:00 PM on Southern Soul Night.

Anticipation across Red Storm Nation has reached a fever pitch. Opening night is rapidly heading toward a complete sellout, with 48 pre-sale tickets already secured and orders continuing to pour in. Fans are also making their presence felt early, with over 25 official merchandise pieces already sold as the community readies to paint the gym red for the 20th Anniversary kickoff.

Southern Soul Night will feature an unforgettable slate of halftime and game-day entertainment. Soul artist Don B Soul will take the court for an electric halftime performance, which will be followed immediately by a historic ceremony retiring the jerseys of the Houston Red Storm Hall of Fame Class of 2026.

Executive and Team Quotes

"Two decades of Red Storm basketball have led us to this exact moment," said Owner Larry Leonard. "Our theme this season, 'The Time Is NOW,' reflects our mindset across the entire organization. Seeing 48 pre-sale tickets and over 25 merch pieces go so quickly shows that our fans feel that same urgency. We are ready to celebrate our history while taking care of business on the floor."

"Training camp was intense, deliberate, and necessary," said Head Coach Terence Dill. "We pushed the guys to adapt quickly to season-level ex*****on. Facing the defending MBL champion DFW Gorillas right out of the gate is the ultimate test, but our preparation has us ready for the challenge."

"Establishing our standard begins long before the first whistle of the season," said President of Basketball Operations Myron Crawford. "The front office and coaching staff aligned to build a roster capable of competing at the highest level. We've put in the work, and now it's time to translate camp intensity into season results."

"Winning Co-Player of the Year was an honor, but our sights are set on the big picture," said Co-Player of the Year Dylan Spriggins. "The energy in camp was completely different this year. We know DFW is bringing championship experience, but 'The Time Is NOW' isn't just a slogan for us—it's how we're approaching every single possession."

"We built our chemistry and physical conditioning over these last few weeks in camp," said Co-Player of the Year Cameron Moore. "Now we have 20 days to fine-tune the engine so that when 6:00 PM hits on September 19th, we execute flawlessly in front of a packed home crowd."

"Controlling the paint and owning the glass is going to set the tone for our defense," added Mr. Clean of the Year Gabriel Drayton. "We respect what the Gorillas accomplished last year, but this is our home court, and we're locking in to protect it."

Tickets for the 20th Anniversary Home Opener on September 19th can be purchased now on the newly updated franchise website at www.houstonredstorm.com.
