🧠🫂May is . The U.S. Center for SafeSport’s 2024 Culture & Climate Survey, reported that more than half of surveyed athletes (53.1%) experienced symptoms of depression or anxiety during their time in sport. This highlights a critical connection between athlete safety and overall mental health.

USA Track & FieldSafe Sport plays an important role in addressing this need by promoting environments that are physically safe and emotionally supportive. By setting clear standards around respect, appropriate behavior, and athlete well-being, Safe Sport helps reduce risk factors such as emotional abuse, neglect, and toxic team cultures—factors that can significantly impact mental health.

Creating a positive sport experience starts with the adults who shape it. Coaches and parents are key in reinforcing Safe Sport principles and fostering a culture where athletes feel valued, heard, and supported. https://www.usatf.org/safe-sport/reporting-a-safe-sport-complaint
