🌊 VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! 🌊

Waves of Ability is possible because people show up for one another.

Join Adaptive Freedom Foundation on Saturday, September 26, at Marine Stadium in Long Beach as we create an adaptive sports and wellness fair where people of all abilities can move, explore, connect, and discover what’s possible.

We need caring, dependable volunteers to help with guest welcome, adaptive activities, vendors, stage support, hospitality, setup, breakdown, and more.

Whether you’ve volunteered with us before or are joining us for the first time, there is a place for you on this team.

What could you discover if you gave yourself permission to try something new? 🌊

At Waves of Ability, we’re creating a day to explore, connect, move, breathe, play — and discover what’s possible.

✨ Try adaptive sports and new activities
🌊 Get out on the water on an adaptive paddle board
🛶 Paddle together in a double-hull canoe
🌬️ Experience guided breathwork and wellness practices
🐴 Meet our mini therapy horses
🤝 Make new friends and connect with an incredible community
🎶 Enjoy music, movement, demonstrations, vendors and more

You don’t have to already be an athlete.
You don’t have to know what you want to try.

Just come curious.

Maybe you discover a sport you love.
Maybe you learn a tool that helps you feel better in your body.
Maybe you meet someone who becomes a friend.
Maybe one experience changes what you believe is possible.

That’s how a ripple begins. 💙

Come make a ripple. Be part of the wave of possibility.

Ripples of Change. Waves of Possibility.

09/04/2026

It starts with one experience. One moment that changes what someone believes is possible.

That moment creates a ripple.
One ripple inspires another.
And another.
Until together, they become a wave.

On September 26, we’re bringing those ripples together at Waves of Ability — a free adaptive sports and wellness fair built around movement, connection, inclusion, and possibility.

Come make a ripple. Be part of the wave of possibility.

This is what possibility looks like from above. 🌊💙

Yesterday in Newport Beach, our Paddle Day was filled with so much more than paddle boards.

It was people trying something they may not have believed was possible.
Volunteers showing up with a simple message: I’m here if you need me.
Families cheering from the shore.
New friendships.
Big smiles.
And a community proving that we are stronger when we make room for everyone.

At Adaptive Freedom Foundation, we believe a single experience can change a life — and enough changed lives can change a community.

Yesterday, we made some waves. 🌊✨

Thank you to every participant, family member, volunteer, supporter and friend who made this day possible.

Here’s to more freedom. More connection. More possibility.

🌊 SOMETHING BIG IS GROWING FROM THE WORK WE’VE BEEN DOING TOGETHER.

For years, Adaptive Freedom Foundation has created opportunities for people to get on the water, try something new, challenge themselves, build confidence and experience what can happen when the right support turns “I can’t” into “let’s try.”

But we’ve always known the vision was bigger than the water.

Because access matters.

Wellness matters.

Community matters.

Belonging matters.

And every person deserves places where they can feel strong, cared for, challenged, inspired and seen.

That belief is what led us to create Waves of Ability.

On September 26, Marine Stadium in Long Beach will become a gathering place for people with and without disabilities — athletes, families, caregivers, volunteers, wellness providers, adaptive sports organizations, businesses, civic leaders and community members — all coming together around possibility.

Waves of Ability is not about building a separate space for people with disabilities.

It is about showing what can happen when we build community differently from the beginning — with access, participation and belonging at the center.

And as Southern California prepares to welcome the world for the Olympic and Paralympic Games, we believe Long Beach has an extraordinary opportunity to help demonstrate what an inclusive legacy can look like long after the final medal is awarded.

We want our AFF community to be part of building it.

🌊 Follow the new page and help us grow this movement.
