Meet James Shoffeitt – Owner & Founder of Serene Waters

James Shoffeitt is the founder and owner of Serene Waters, a Huntington Beach-based surf school dedicated to helping people of all ages experience the excitement, confidence, and freedom that surfing provides. Having surfed since the age of seven and taught surfing since 2014, James has spent years sharing his passion for the ocean with beginners, families, kids, teens, and adults. His coaching style focuses on ocean safety, surf fundamentals, wave knowledge, and creating a fun, supportive environment where students can build skills and confidence in the water.

Beyond surf instruction, James is also a certified alcohol and drug counselor and the founder of Serene Waters Adventure Therapy. Since 2016, he has combined his professional background with his love for the ocean to develop programs that promote personal growth, resilience, wellness, and recovery through surfing and outdoor experiences.

Through Serene Waters, James is committed to creating memorable experiences that go beyond simply learning to ride a wave. His mission is to help people connect with the ocean, challenge themselves, gain confidence, and discover the many benefits that surfing can bring to their lives.
