A weekly timed FREE 5K run/jog/walk, every Saturday morning @ Ed Austin Regional Park in Jacksonville

Ed Austin Regional parkrun - Event number 209 - 15th August 2026:

We KNOW we have really matured as a parkrun when we're "disappointed" when we didn't break the 90 finishers mark! This week 89 people ran, jogged and walked the course. Not really sure why the numbers went down from last week despite NO major morning races, but still quite a handsome turnout, helped by a tourist from Massachusetts, technically a tourist from England (although we consider Blaise GLENNON one of our own!) and a whole bunch of youngsters from the FSCJ Cross-Country Team, all as a part of a total 14 first timers! WELCOME, and please join us again!

No barkrunners this week, but we had a stroller. The KIRK siblings Carter and Madison were our only juniors, and maybe that's a hint as to WHY we had fewer participants... school is back in session this week, and seems like most of the kiddos are having a harder time getting up on Saturday mornings now.

Once again THANK YOU to Kim BARROWS for bringing FROZEN popsicles for everyone, always super refreshing! Thanks also to Chad THORNTON, Crazy AUNT SUE and Jessica CATON for bringing life-saving toilet paper (oops, excuse me - guess it's called "bath tissue" these days) to stock the restrooms!

It was Steve BRUCE's 100th parkrun MILESTONE today! Steve didn't come last week, but we had his card ready and waiting for him. Many congratulations indeed! Steve has have quite a bit of tourist experience, but 81 of his 100 were at EARp - always great to have you with us, sir!

We also found Paul DAVIS' card in the box! Or I should say: Kerry ROTH found the card - thank you! Glad to get Paul his well-deserved 25th Milestone card, on this his 26th parkrun! He inspires so many, and we love to have him and his group run with us!

Welcome back Mayumi PIERCE after her holiday in Japan, where she played tourist as well, completing two at Unoki parkrun in the greater Tokyo area. Exciting!

Also great to have weatherman TV celebrity Robert SPETA back with us after a bit of a hiatus. Let's GO and get back on track! We love to have you with us again!

The youngsters from FSCJ took BOTH top spots today, with Camden BUDD clocking a very handsome 17:35 to take the Gents', while Adia GOVE did the same for the Ladies with a time of 21:46. Congratulations to you both, and to the TEN parkrunners who recorded new personal best times today: Noelle HAWE, Pete LOEROP, Vincent LEADLEY, Timothy BURLING, Don SIMMONS, Michael CURRY, Jared HUDSON, Kelly TOMSON, Eric TOMSON, and Sol WYNTER - outstanding, y'all!

Great day for Milestones! Gigi is #1(00), as always - our winningest Ladies' First Finisher! And Michael drove up all the way from Orlando with family to celebrate his 50 with us! Awesome, both of you!

Ed Austin Regional parkrun - Event number 208 - 8th August 2026:

With two pretty significant events on the local race calendar we were braced for a lower turnout, but lo and behold somehow 98 people ran, jogged and walked the course this week! We had tourists from the Isle of Man, Ottawa, London and Gainesville, as part of 12 total first timers - WELCOME, great to have you - please join us again! We actually had ONE HUNDRED starters, but two of them had to stop a little early in the fairly brutal conditions as they ran quite some distance earlier in the morning already - so we were denied breaking the 100 finishers barrier again, but nonetheless our THIRD BEST turnout EVER! Zowie!

We had a stroller, a barkrunner, and TEN junior runners today. Very nice to see our friends Yusmila QUINONES and Eddielis PEREZ back with us after a loooong break! Kim BARROWS once more saved the day on the refreshment side of things by providing FROZEN popsicles for us - thank you, as always!

A BIG milestone! Gigi ESCOBAR celebrated her 100th parkrun today, and did so in style with her own customized top - simply outstanding! Gigi is also our "winningest" Lady parkrunner, way ahead of the field with her 20 first finishes at EARp. She is always a joy to have with us! GIGI NUMBER ONE!!

Not to be outdone, it was also Michael DUNBAR's 50th parkrun today, and he drove up all the way from Orlando to be sure he celebrates with US! Michael is one of us, but recently moved to Orlando, so we are extra happy he rejoined us for his milestone today, accompanied by family. Very nice, and well done indeed!

It was also Paul DAVIS' 25th parkrun today! Paul hadn't been with us for quite a while after his 24th, so his 25 card has been rotting in the equipment box for a few months now, and we actually couldn't find it in there today. Hopefully it will turn up. But congratulations, and great to see you back!

Gritty performance of the week goes to Dolores SMITH. 75 years young Dolores really toughed it out despite struggling with cramps and the very humid conditions, but insisted on finishing her 5K. Thank you to Tammy HENSON and Ronda THOMPSON for helping her over the line, and to all the nice folk who gathered around to lend a helping hand in getting Dolores rehydrated and cooled down after she finished. Dolores is indeed an inspiration to us all, and hat's off to her hanging in there this morning!

Speaking of inspiration, it was once more Vladislav MAKARENKOV who came across the line first today, with a time of 18:56. Vlad has achieved this feat 54 times now - wow! Tourist Lydia RICHARDSON meanwhile came in first among the Ladies, with a new EARp personal best time of 27:38. Congratulations to them both, and to the NINE additional parkrunners who recorded new personal bests today despite the muggy conditions: Ollie RICHARDSON, Bradley RICHARDSON (yes, not a bad day for the RICHARDSONs, eh?), Cindy AROCHO, Michael CURRY, Martin MORALES, Jackie HART, Samuel HARBER, Bella LEADLEY and Gabriella ADALINE. Great job, y'all!
