Ed Austin Regional parkrun - Event number 209 - 15th August 2026:
We KNOW we have really matured as a parkrun when we're "disappointed" when we didn't break the 90 finishers mark! This week 89 people ran, jogged and walked the course. Not really sure why the numbers went down from last week despite NO major morning races, but still quite a handsome turnout, helped by a tourist from Massachusetts, technically a tourist from England (although we consider Blaise GLENNON one of our own!) and a whole bunch of youngsters from the FSCJ Cross-Country Team, all as a part of a total 14 first timers! WELCOME, and please join us again!
No barkrunners this week, but we had a stroller. The KIRK siblings Carter and Madison were our only juniors, and maybe that's a hint as to WHY we had fewer participants... school is back in session this week, and seems like most of the kiddos are having a harder time getting up on Saturday mornings now.
Once again THANK YOU to Kim BARROWS for bringing FROZEN popsicles for everyone, always super refreshing! Thanks also to Chad THORNTON, Crazy AUNT SUE and Jessica CATON for bringing life-saving toilet paper (oops, excuse me - guess it's called "bath tissue" these days) to stock the restrooms!
It was Steve BRUCE's 100th parkrun MILESTONE today! Steve didn't come last week, but we had his card ready and waiting for him. Many congratulations indeed! Steve has have quite a bit of tourist experience, but 81 of his 100 were at EARp - always great to have you with us, sir!
We also found Paul DAVIS' card in the box! Or I should say: Kerry ROTH found the card - thank you! Glad to get Paul his well-deserved 25th Milestone card, on this his 26th parkrun! He inspires so many, and we love to have him and his group run with us!
Welcome back Mayumi PIERCE after her holiday in Japan, where she played tourist as well, completing two at Unoki parkrun in the greater Tokyo area. Exciting!
Also great to have weatherman TV celebrity Robert SPETA back with us after a bit of a hiatus. Let's GO and get back on track! We love to have you with us again!
The youngsters from FSCJ took BOTH top spots today, with Camden BUDD clocking a very handsome 17:35 to take the Gents', while Adia GOVE did the same for the Ladies with a time of 21:46. Congratulations to you both, and to the TEN parkrunners who recorded new personal best times today: Noelle HAWE, Pete LOEROP, Vincent LEADLEY, Timothy BURLING, Don SIMMONS, Michael CURRY, Jared HUDSON, Kelly TOMSON, Eric TOMSON, and Sol WYNTER - outstanding, y'all!
