Rooted & Rising: Jacksonville Homeschool Classes is looking for a warm, confident, hands-on educator to join our team beginning January 2027!
This is a part-time position working 2 days per week with elementary-aged homeschool students (typically 10–20 students). There is flexibility in the schedule, with one day on Thursday mornings on the Northside of Jacksonville and another class located in either the Beaches or Mandarin area.
We're looking for someone who can confidently step into a classroom, connect with different kinds of kids, manage a group with warmth and consistency, and create an environment where children feel safe, known, engaged, and excited to learn.
🌿 What you'll be doing
You'll work alongside our existing RAR educators in two different classroom settings.
Day 1: You'll work with Meaghan, our lead teacher, covering Florida history and ecosystems. You'll primarily lead a hands-on art history component/project.
Day 2: You'll co-lead with Amber, taking the lead on history and science, while Amber leads experiments and art projects.
Our classes are intentionally hands-on, interactive, and academically meaningful. We're looking for someone who wants to get right in there with the kids—not someone who wants to lecture from the front of the room.
There may also be opportunities to develop and teach additional classes based on your own strengths and interests. For the right person, we'd love to give you the freedom to help shape the schedule and curriculum.

We're looking for someone who is:
• Confident managing a classroom of 10–20 elementary-aged students
• Warm, friendly, patient, and adaptable
• Comfortable working with a variety of personalities, learning styles, and needs
• Able to establish clear expectations while maintaining a welcoming classroom
• Experienced working with children in a group setting
• Comfortable working independently and taking initiative
• Passionate about hands-on learning
• Comfortable with messy projects, experiments, art, outdoor learning, and getting involved alongside the kids
• Reliable and able to commit to a two-day-per-week schedule
• Comfortable traveling to class locations around Jacksonville
• Serious about student safety, security, and creating a safe environment
Homeschool experience is strongly preferred—and we would especially love to hear from fellow homeschool parents—but you do not need to be a homeschool parent to be a great fit.
An education/teaching background is a bonus, but experience successfully working with children in a group setting is a must.
All RAR educators are required to complete and pass a background check.
