Stop wasting your best shots. 🛑
You hit a perfect entry, fight to the backdoor, get to the submarine position… and then what? A stalemate. All that energy and effort, zero points on the board.
If you are tired of doing 90% of the work just to get restarted, you need to learn how to finish. Here is the exact step-by-step transition to turn that submarine scramble into a Turk and back points:
1️⃣ Secure the Ankles – Immediately cover your ankles to deny their scramble.
2️⃣ Push & Pull – Pull down on their dominant leg while driving the other leg up.
3️⃣ Pop to the Hip – Drop to your hip while keeping heavy pressure driving forward into their upper body.
4️⃣ Snake the Calf – Slide your arm down their calf to straighten their leg completely.
5️⃣ Turk & Circle – Step over the straight leg to lock in the Turk, then circle to the head for the finish.
Stop leaving points on the mat.

Wrestlers become a serious threat when they can master this position. 🔒
Most people settle for stalemate when they get overextended. The ones who know how to finish from here? Dangerous.

Jason Nolf said in a recent interview that you gotta get really good at finishing when you’re stuck under the guy.
His reasoning is because then you won’t be afraid to shoot because you know no matter what you’ll finish!

You don’t lose on the mat. You lose in the moments no one is watching.
Wrestling is the only sport where there is absolutely nowhere to hide. When the lights go down and you’re staring across the mat at someone who wants to break you, your conditioning and your mind are all you have.
it is not over until you win. Every bad practice, every brutal weight cut, and every exhausting sprint is just a character-building day in disguise. If you are willing to embrace the dark rooms and the empty gyms, the hand-raised moments will take care of themselves.

If you’re a wrestler and you’re reading this — hear me:
You are not normal. You were never supposed to be.
Normal doesn’t wake up at 5am to run stairs in the dark. Normal doesn’t choose to starve and sweat just to earn the right to compete. Normal doesn’t get back up after getting slammed into the mat for the hundredth time.
You chose to choke on greatness instead of nibbling on mediocrity.
The world needs more people who refuse to stand in line.
You’re a wrestler. You were made to stand out.
Now get back to work. The mat is waiting! 👊

Stop fighting the spiral ride. Start scoring from it. 🤫
Most wrestlers make the mistake of fighting the downward pressure when an opponent attempts a spiral ride. Instead of wasting your energy resisting, use their own momentum against them. 😉
When you let them commit their weight forward, they lose their base. By “opening the gate” and executing a rapid hip switch, you disappear from underneath them, leaving them to face-plant or at the very least you’re back in home position—back straight, sealed off, hips under you.
How to execute the counter:
1️⃣ Go with the momentum: Plant your hand across your body.
2️⃣ Open the gate: Step your opposite leg up and plant it firmly on the mat.
3️⃣ Switch your hips: Swing your bottom leg aggressively through the open space.
4️⃣ Return to home base: Seal off, back straight.

How does a lion become the king of the jungle if he is not the biggest, fastest, or smartest?
Every wrestler has stepped onto the mat against an opponent who seemed like a giant. It is easy to look at their record, their strength, or their speed and feel like the underdog. But wrestling is the ultimate equalizer because it exposes who has the stronger mind.
The moment you decide that you are the hunter, the entire dynamic of the match changes. You do not need perfect genetics to dominate; you just need a relentless refusal to back down. The mat is your jungle. Act like the king of it.

Stop getting flattened on bottom. 🛑 If you’re tired of getting chopped and stuck with your face in the mat, you need to “open the gate. 🐕💦
When a tough top wrestler chops your elbow, your base collapses. But instead of panicking, follow this 4-step recovery to get back to “Home Base” instantly:
1️⃣ Hand Across: Place your free hand firmly on the mat across your body.
2️⃣ Open the Gate: Lift your top leg high (think “dog peeing on a fire hydrant” 🐕). This opens your hips and creates the space you need.
3️⃣ Knee Slide: Slide your bottom knee forward and directly under your body.
4️⃣ Return to Base: Push up into a strong kneeling position. Keep your back straight, hips underneath you, and elbows sealed!
❌ The Biggest Mistake: Do NOT knee slide into a sit-out. This leaves you completely open to getting sucked back.
🔄 Next Steps:
• If they pressure forward ➡️ Use their pressure to stand up and escape.
• If they reach over ➡️ Grab a 2-on-1 grip and clear that arm with “The Gazoni” (up, over, and out!).
