Trainers and coaches use the term ‘Progressive Overload’ often, but what does it mean?

It really just means doing a little more over time: more weight, more reps, or better control.

Does it work? Yes! That extra demand creates more mechanical tension and fatigue on the muscle, signaling your body to adapt, building bigger muscle fibers and stronger neural output so you can handle it next time!

It’s not just the exercise, it’s the ex*****on. Real intensity and pushing to absolute failure (and beyond) is what actually drives growth. Those ugly partials in the stretched position are where you squeeze out the last bit of motor unit recruitment. Multiple studies show that training to failure maximizes hypertrophy, so if you’re stopping early, you’re leaving growth behind!
