We're Sandy Ranch Outfitters, game hunting engineers. We own, manage, and hunt a beautiful ranchin the Central Texas Hill Country, it is fed year-round.

Our mission is to furnish visitors with the best game hunting experience of their life. Our game population is best-in-class. Deer (white-tail in particular) are spotted in abundance on all of our properties, as are Rio Grande Turkey and feral hogs. Moreover, we manage small but high-quality populations of exotic game animals such as Addax and Blackbuck. In addition to our fully-guided hunts, we go to great lengths to accommodate our guests. These include: transportation from and to airports in Austin or San Antonio, bed & breakfast-style lodging, home-cooked meals from a trained chef, fishing, and other leisure activities perfect for family and small corporate getaways. R***e season opens Saturday, and the first thing every hunter does at Sandy Ranch is sight in.

You can drive a long way with a r***e in the truck, and scopes get bumped. So before your first morning out, we set you up at the bench to put a few rounds on paper with the ammo you’ll hunt with. If anything’s moved, you fix it right there.

It takes a few minutes, and it means you head out knowing exactly where your r***e shoots. That’s the kind of confidence you want when a deer steps out.

Bring the same ammo you plan to hunt with, and we’ll take care of the rest.

Congratulations to this hunter on a great bull taken this season at our place in Ruidoso, New Mexico.

Elk hunting is a whole different experience from what we do here in the Hill Country, and it’s one a lot of hunters have on their list for years before they finally go.

If next year is your year, now’s the time to start planning. New Mexico tags work differently than Texas licenses, so the earlier we talk, the better your options.

Blackbuck hunting is all about your eyes against theirs. They see a long way, and they don’t stick around once they’ve spotted you. Our guide set you up for success so you actually get a shot at one of these animals.

Hudson’s Hideaway is our little cabin on the ranch, built for one or two people who want a few quiet days in the Hill Country.

There’s a queen bed, a private bath, a mini fridge, microwave, and a coffee pot. Fire up the grill outside in the evening and watch the sun go down over the ranch.

Johnson City is a few minutes away, and Fredericksburg makes an easy day trip. We open the cabin back up after deer season, so late January through March is a good time to plan a winter getaway. Message us or find us on AirBnB to get your stay booked.

Once deer season wraps up, the lodge opens back up, and late January through March is a great time to come after hogs.

The weather’s cooler, which makes for better days in the field and easier work taking care of the meat. There’s no closed season on hogs in Texas, as you know.

We'll take care of your meals, the stay, and get your meet to the processor - all you have to do is show up ready to shoot and have a good time.

Deer season’s spoken for, so let’s talk turkey.

Spring season opens April 3 and runs through May 16. That’s when the Hill Country wakes back up and the gobbling starts at daylight.

Our fall and winter weekends went fast this year, and we expect spring to go the same way. If you’ve got dates in mind, email them to us and we’ll get you on the calendar.

Here’s how a family weekend goes at the ranch.

Friday, you get in, pick your rooms, have supper in while the kids take over the game room.

Saturday, the Science Mill and the Exotic Resort Zoo are both right here in Johnson City (Less than 45 minutes away.) Saturday evening, everybody gets a line in the water on Grape Creek.

Sunday, one more walk down to the creek before the drive home.

The main house sleeps 6. Spring break dates are open now. Book on Airbnb or DM us.

Tent Site 2 is for folks who want to be tucked away. It’s tent only, with a fire pit, a picnic table, a swing, and portable water.

The creek is right there to walk along, and it’s about as quiet as it gets out here. Bring the dog, too.
