Wildfire 125 Race Recap:
Sorry for the Late Race Recap! Busy week so far!
As always... the thank you's first. The thank you this week goes to Mother Nature! Thanks for the little bit of rain we got before the last weekends race! It was awesome to be able to see the mountains and maybe breath some fresh air! 😆
As folks are aware we race prepped our USA/Pro Late car in Super Late Model trim at Mission Valley Super Oval last week with our primary car temporarily out of commission. The result was a mixed bag... all in all the car performed well. We attempted a tire saving strategy in the first run, allowing ourselves to fall back from the lead pack. After the competition caution on lap 40 we would start 2nd row outside in 4th position. The outside row didn't get a great start and we fell back to 5th before climbing back to 4th. With a few laps remaining there was a caution that would move us to 2nd place. On that restart we chose the bottom line because we had struggled in the top row on earlier restarts. This was possibly a mistake as JD Undem was able to race his ass off in the highline and keep 2nd on the restart until the checkered flag waived! Congratulations to Dave Garber on his win! Great finish JD! Way to put on a show for the folks Tyler and Agni! I know folks got a little excited after the race, I hope everyone has had some time to clear their heads and hit reset on a few of those emotions!
I will say this... I'd rather see folks get worked up, than not care...
Our next race will be in the same Port City Racecars machine we ran last week on August 29th. It'll be in USA Late Model trim racing in the championship race for the USA Late Models. Rumor is there are a few cars looking to make the tow that weekend as well. It should make for a tremendous night of racing!
Thank you to everyone that supports us in our crazy life!

We are back at Mission Valley Super Oval this weekend! They will be racing the INEX Legends for Legend Madness Friday & Saturday nights. We will be racing The WildFire 125 Saturday night.
For the first time this year we will have the radioactive yellow and black Port City Racecars crate car configured in Super Late Model trim. We were forced to use the USA/Pro-Late "backup" car due to a rear differential failure. We are excited to see how this car performs!

USA Late Model Race Recap 7.25:
The initial thank you on this race goes to our crew guys! It was a hot one out there and the guys plowed through the heat and we found some really good speed! Thanks for the hard work prepping for this race and making it happen race day! Thank you to the folks at Mission Valley Super Oval for hosting the event and the fans for showing up!
Practice went well, the car worked well and responded well to our adjustments. It's hard to anticipate how the track will transition from the heat to the cooler evening during qualifying. We took a pretty good swing at the car for qualifying and managed to break the track record for the USA Late Model division with a 14.971. We weren't certain the track would have enough grip with all the heat. We were pretty stoked!
In the Heat Race we would start on the front row, lead every lap and win the race.
For the Main Event we were starting in P4. Second row outside. Early in the race as we were attempting to pass for the lead we would get into the #66 car of Tyler Irwin. The contact knocked the toe-in out of wack, broke a fender and the car didn't like that. We would then race our asses of with the #23 of Reston Morehouse and hold on for a hard fought 3rd place finish.
All in all... not a bad day, but we did not accomplish our primary goal of winning the race! So back to work we go!
Congratulations to Tyler Irwin on his win!
Thank you to everyone that helps us do this! From advertising partners to knuckle busters we appreciate the hell out of all of you and the work you put in to make this happen!
