That’s a wrap on the 2026 season! 🎬

This past weekend we traveled to Ozarks International Raceway for the last two races with K.A.R.T. The weather was absolutely beautiful the whole weekend! ☀️

Saturday’s race was a fun one to watch! Gavin and his friend Athena were battling it out the entire race. One moment Gavin would be leading and the next time you saw the two of them, Athena would be leading. It went on like that for the entire 30-minute race! In the end, Athena ended up going off track and Gavin was able to take 1st! 🥇🏁

Sunday was another intense race to watch as a parent. This time it was Gavin and two of his friends, Clayte and Caleb. We told Gavin before the race to work with the boys and ride the draft and they could battle for the lead towards the end of the race but Gavin insisted on trying to work his way from the back of the draft to the front which ultimately caused him to fall back and out of their draft. With only minutes to go, we thought for sure that had secured Gavin 3rd in the race but unfortunately Caleb’s kart had a mechanical issue with 2 laps to go in the race which left Clayte without a drafting partner. That gave Gavin time to hammer down and pass for the win!!! 🥇🏁

Gavin had a great year with K.A.R.T. taking home 1st place in 14/14 races! An undefeated season and the 2026 KART Cadet Champion! We are so proud of Gavin and the real growth he showed this year in his race craft!

Over the weekend we traveled to Hallett Motor Racing Circuit in Oklahoma to race with K.A.R.T. in the National Championships!

Friday was all-day practice and Gavin went out for every single session. Dad told him we had the kart dialed in and he could take a break but nope, back out. This kid just loves to race; whether he’s racing alone, in the rain, in the scorching hot temps, he just wants to be on that track going fast.

Saturday we dealt with some on and off rain during practice but ultimately got perfect weather to hit the track for the race. Gavin was able to take the lead off the start line and maintain it throughout the 30-minute race, winning his very first Triad! At the awards ceremony, Gavin gave a shout out dedicating his race to David Gharst; I even got that on video. 🥰🏁🥇

Sunday the rain stayed away so we were able to have dry practices and beautiful weather again for the race. Once again, Gavin took the lead off the start and maintained it the whole race earning his 2nd Triad and “Expert” status for KART! He even managed to beat his top speed at Hallett with 68 mph! 🏎️🥇🏁

Last weekend Gavin had races 5 & 6 with KC Karting Association in Liberty.

Saturday was the 2nd pill draw of the season. A pill draw is where each driver draws a number and they use the numbers to determine the lineup for the 1st heat. In the 2nd heat, they invert the order. Then they total the points from the 2 heats to determine the lineup for the final. In the final he lost a few spots at the start and fought hard the rest of the race to gain those few spots back finishing 4th for the day.

Sunday was back to the normal race schedule. Gavin qualified 3rd and was able to hold his position in the prefinal. In the final, he was able to make a clean pass into 2nd and maintained that position for the remainder of the race to the checkered flag! 🥈 🏁

Next up: Lake Garnett Road Course with K.A.R.T. next weekend!
