A beautiful day with some great people and an excellent catch aboard the Cora Beth II yesterday!
The full-day fishing bite is hot right now and should stay that way for a while. Getting some distance between us and Key West definitely makes for a longer boat ride, but the fishing has been well worth it.
Today, we hauled the Cora Beth II out of the water for some routine maintenance. If all of our projects go as planned, we expect to have her back in the water and fishing again next week.
This isn’t our biannual hull inspection, but I’m not a fan of letting the boat sit in the water for two straight years without getting some eyes on the running gear and through-hulls. Everything looked good underneath today, and we’ll get an even better look once the pressure washing is finished. From there, it’s fresh paint, some welding, and a few other projects before she goes back in.
I’m also hoping to get a double-anchor setup installed before the hard north winds arrive later this fall. Being able to hold the boat exactly where we want her makes an enormous difference in our wintertime catches.
A little downtime and maintenance now should have the Cora Beth II ready to go for a great fall and winter fishing season in Key West. 🎣
