Some partnerships just feel meant to be. ❤️

I recently had the honor and privilege of partnering with the Lake Washington School District Transition Academy.

The Transition Academy serves young adults with diverse learning profiles and abilities, helping them build skills, confidence, and opportunities for meaningful engagement in work, community life, and personal interests after high school.

Every Tuesday, we were lucky enough to have Ruth join us at Happy Hour by Marisa, and what an incredible gift she has been. She didn’t just become part of our Tuesday routine—she became part of our community. Her contagious smile, awesome dance moves, and positive energy lit up the room and left a lasting impact on all of us.

While this partnership was an opportunity for Ruth to gain valuable experience, the truth is she gave all of us so much in return.

Ruth, thank you for sharing your time, your spirit. and your light with us. You left your mark on HHbM, and we are all better for having known you.

Here’s to creating more spaces where everyone belongs and everyone has something meaningful to contribute. ❤️

2026 The Seattle Times Best in the PNW 06/14/2026

I have a HUGE favor to ask! ❤️

Happy Hour by Marisa has been nominated for 𝗕𝗘𝗦𝗧 𝗙𝗜𝗧𝗡𝗘𝗦𝗦 𝗖𝗘𝗡𝗧𝗘𝗥 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗣𝗮𝗰𝗶𝗳𝗶𝗰 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗵𝘄𝗲𝘀𝘁!! 🎉🎉

As a small, locally owned fitness studio, we’re competing against big box gyms and national chains with multiple locations and thousands of members. The only way we have a chance is if our community—and the people who believe in supporting small businesses—show up in a big way. ❤️

Every single vote matters. Every single day.

🔹 Vote from multiple platforms, multiple devices, and multiple email addresses—it’s completely allowed and can make a huge difference!

For a small business like mine, this truly takes a village. We’re competing against organizations with exponentially larger memberships and marketing budgets, so it will take an entire team effort for us to be competitive.

Voting ends June 26, so let’s make every single day count! 🙌🏼

Whether you’ve taken one class with me, been a member for years, followed along on social media, or simply believe in supporting local businesses, I would be incredibly grateful for your vote and your help spreading the word.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Happy Hour by Marisa and other small businesses in our community! ❤️

2026 The Seattle Times Best in the PNW Vote once per day from June 8 through June 26.

One of my favorite things about this community is that we make space for real life.
Stress, hectic schedules, kids, chaos, laughter… it all belongs here. 💕 Workouts are therapy. Holding two babies while doing them is even more therapeutic. I’m so incredibly blessed. Thank you to everyone who showed up today! You make me proud! ❤️

After seeing so many heartbreaking conversations surrounding this topic over the last few days, I felt compelled to say something.

This video comes straight from my heart.

To every person with Down syndrome who might hear stories that make you question your worth: You matter. You are loved. You are valuable. You belong. Your life has immeasurable meaning, and this world is better because you’re in it. Never let anyone make you believe otherwise.

And to the parents who have just received a diagnosis or are walking through those first uncertain days: Here’s the truth: Parenthood doesn’t come with a manual. Every single one of us is just figuring it out as we go, loving our kids fiercely, making mistakes, learning from them, and putting one foot in front of the other. It’s the hardest jobs on the planet. Like… really freaking hard. But I can honestly say it’s the most fulfilling and rewarding things I’ve ever done. And these incredible kiddos have a way of changing us for the better, teaching us every single day about unconditional love, joy, patience, acceptance, resilience, and how to be more kind, compassionate, and accepting humans.

I don’t pretend to have all the answers, but I do know this—every life deserves to be seen, celebrated, and cherished.

I know, without a doubt, that I am a better person because of Xavier. And I don’t think I’m alone in that. Almost everyone who has the privilege of knowing him walks away a little kinder, a little more patient, a little more accepting, and a little more joyful—all because he shows up as his authentic, unapologetic self every single day. ❤️

This one is for you. 🫶🏼
