Fun fact: Coaching was never what I envisioned I’d commit to for 17 years. I saw it as a means to an end, something to fill my pocket book and a way to stay connected to sports.

Receiving messages like these affirms I was placed where I was supposed to be at that time.

I cherish the relationships built, the knowledge gained and the lessons that stuck. Nothing great ever comes easy, in my opinion. We don’t have to struggle but we have to do the work.

This is an appreciation post to those who have walked with me on this coaching journey. To those who are fearful of trying something they don’t “think” they want to do, perhaps that’s a cue to try? What’s the worst that happens?

You live, you learn and you embark on a new path or a different approach. It’s all in the adjustments as I tell athletes in the daily and am FINALLY taking my own advice.

Big changes are coming! Here is a whole-hearted THANK YOU to everyone who has trusted my tactics, allowed me to help develop their kids and who have prompted my mind to believe I can do big things no matter the obstacles.

Coaching isn’t about control.

Coaching is about connection.

Every moment, every word, every “win” and “loss” is a chance to adjust and do better the next time around.

If we think that because we hold a title, rank or position of “power” that we know what’s best, that is when the student will NOT become the teacher.

We must understand that everyone has their chance to integrate knowledge and promote growth when placed in a position to help the collective. We are all helping one another.

It is not a game or a final destination. It is the platform of which we learn, let go, trust and believe in every mentor, player, parent, partner, booster, sibling and environment that we are blessed with in order to live life to the fullest.

You are such a light. You are the epitome of tenacity and commitment to your team, but most importantly to yourself. Thank you for teaching me. ❤️

Use that passport. Embrace your life. 4 years of high school ball has come and went but the world is ready to receive you.
